Extract from PC 20/6...
Mioks aim to win
IN-FORM Toyota Enga Mioks will be out on Sunday to maintain their winning spree against injury-hit champions Mabey & Johnson Muruks in Lae.
After successive victories in the SP cup clashes, the Engans are confident of an upset over the champions before their home crowd at the Lae Rugby League ground.
Coach Toksy Nema said yesterday that the spirit was high in the camp and believed they would get another win.
“They are the champions, we cannot under-estimate them but we should cause an upset for them,” he joked.
Nema will be heavily banking on his line of defence which has been a lethal weapon for the young, inexperienced Engans.
“We should maintain our style of play with defence as the priority that won us the game,” he said.
Nema expects to maintain the same lineup as in the last two matches.
Thomas Gumsi is to maintain the fullback role while Jeffrey Tai and Douglas Piak will be on the flanks.
Steven Francis and Ruben Bunajabu take charge of the centres while playmaker Joshua Molsi is partnered with young Mark Mexico to direct traffic in the halves.
Blockbusting forward Dusty Mokley, hooker Leon Cletus, Billy Gau, Sameul Sok, Robin Pupu and Nissan Pakistan are in the forward pack.
Meanwhile the champions are hard hit with a string of injuries forcing management to be tightlipped with their starting lineup.
Franchise owner Tom Higgins yesterday confirmed the camp had been hit with injuries, forcing him to keep quiet about the starting 13.
“It’s very difficult to name the possible lineup because of the injuries faced in the camp,” he said.
The injuries include star player Charlie Wabo, George Moni and Sova Milfred who have yet to recover.
However, most of the regulars should take the field such as hard running forward Opisa Pomba, Malachi Owen, flashy winger Terry Toa, Roderick Puname and play maker Andrew Sam to be in their top form.
In Goroko, home team Bintangor Lahanis test their strength against Port Moresby-based Masta Mak Rangers.
