I live in Lae and have witnessed it all. Team Enga had no transport, no accomodation, no food. In fact, the ladies soccer team, the defending champions and had no breakfast before they took the field.

Heard that a unsuccessful candidate for Wabag Open accommodated and fed the boys and girls soccer teams for a nite or two.

Other MP's including NCD Governor was in town to cheer and give moral support for their NCD teams.

'Ol Enga lus physcologically lon road before reaching Lae. BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME ... 2009 INO LONG WEEII.

One for our MP's, Start planning and allocate enough money into sports, let the Enga Flag high...If all our 5 Open MP's give K500K each plus K2.5M from EPG, K5M in sports can drive Enga to a new milestone, SPORTS can play a part in eradicating one of Enga's deadly sports ' tribal fights'. If sportman and women become true role models for our young ones in their early age, Enga is in for a change...

Enga not up to scratch
By PETER PIA
TEAM Enga fans and supporters who turned out to cheer their team at the third PNG Games in Lae were disappointed with the overall team performance which they described as poor.
Supporters called on the sole sponsor – Enga provincial government - to put the sports office in Wabag in place in order to organise provincial games to ensure all districts compete to select the best team for 2009 PNG Games.
Lae resident Kala Kaiyel said that if Enga provincial government continued to pump substantial money into sports, then athletes should perform well and make the province proud.
“Look how much Enga provincial government always spends on sports in the province. The government plays its part but why did Team Enga performed poorly in Lae?
“As an Engan I supported my team with cold drinks but their performances in some games were disgraceful.
“The organising committee should have sent a strong team to compete in such a big event,” said Kaiyel.
He claimed there was no proper selection and training for Team Enga and athletes were randomly picked off the streets.
At the end of the week Engans settled for one silver and two bronze medals.
