How will you tackle the emonsterf in Enga?

gPublofsh charge against Stephen Kikala misses the plot (Post-Courier Friday December, 7).
In his initial letter he accused the Lagaip-Porgera MP of an amount he did not commit. And when Stephen ggently correctedh this university student for getting his basic facts wrong, now he seems to be attacking the person, leaving the issue aside. The missiles he is hurling at the MPfs son are fictitious, negative and biased.
Generally Publo is right in alleging that MPsf kids are overseas. Most MPsf kids are. But he fails to understand that even years before Mr Kikala was elected to the Parliament, Stephen was already studying overseas. Secondly, the wrong amount he quoted was gcorrectedh. A genuine university student would appreciate gcorrectionh. But using it as a springboard to launch an attack and air your own personal disatisfaction is totally unhealthy and a shame to yourself, and the leaders of the student body you enlisted (purportedly to rally their support) and the higher institution you ascribe to.
You seem to be fuming because you think you are answerable by certain people and not gthis kidh. The kid has set the record straight, and are you angry with this? Is this a reflection of the university you claim to attend or some of your own Engan political blood spewing out of you?
And finally, you appear to be so concerned with the two giant killers in Enga (AIDS and tribal war). I agree, we should all be. And you reaffirmed your conviction that with or without the help of the authorites, you are determined to do what is right for your gparents and relativesh. That sounds good. Then why preaching it to the nation?
If you are a senior university student, we expect you to act like one. Otherwise, if you miss the plot in little issues like this, I donft know how you intend to gtackleh the two-headed monster in Enga?

Letters to The National, Thursday, December 10

Nothing positive yet about awareness drives in Enga

ALLOW me to respond to gPubloh who seems to lack an understanding of modern day politics and professional integrity (Dec 6). I do appreciate the initiative the Enga Students Association has taken to address the chronic issues of HIV/AIDS and tribal warfare.
But there is still no evidence of accountable spending and positive impacts from previous awareness drives in the province. Neither has there been a positive correlation between Enga student awareness drives and decrease in the HIV/AIDS statistics or tribal wars.
With respect to the students, I am sad to say your problem originated from your own lack of credibility and integrity to investigate the actual facts.
Lagaip-Porgera MP Philip Kikala did not donate K5,000 to bodybuilder Danald Kaiwi but K1,000 from his own pocket.
The office of the Lagaip-Porgera MP verbally authorised and instructed me via mobile phone and e-mail to write a response to your allegation.
If the writer is dissatisfied, you can have your chance in 2012 to challenge any of the elected MPs by running for office.

Stephen Kikala
Tokyo, Japan
