In reply to: Mohawk 's message, "Seems no one wants Ipatas!" on Fri, Aug 03 2007, 05:58:23am

There was a rumour going around during the election campaign that Ipatas had close ties with the old Somare all along. However, Don Poly was in Ipatas's way.

There was a tussle within the NA faction for who should be the official candidate for Enga Regional. The old Somare didn't want Ipatas to lose, while Don Polye strongly wanted to get Ipatas out, and likewise Ipatas wanted Don out.
However, the old fella won and officially endorsed Michael Yaipupu for Enga Regional who was welcomed by Ipatas because Michael was not a strong contender. Don Polye wanted Paul Torato to be the NA candidate because Paul was a strong candidate against Ipatas. Ipatas was only scared of Paul Torato not anybody else in Enga.

This lead to the elections when Don Polye rigged the Kandep votes, he submitted all the regional votes for Paul Torato and the Open votes for himself. This was seen during counting when Don was on 21,000+, Paul Torato was on 28,000+ votes which were mostly from Kandep, all other districts were yet to be counted except for a few Wabag boxes. One would question why didn't Don Poly put the Kandep Regional votes for Michael Yaipupu when Michael was the NA candidate and Don was the Highlands Deputy Leader!!!

There was also this rumour that when Ipatas was in court, the old Somare helped him out. It's from very reliable sources that, Ipatas bribed the judge with K1million. The only way to get to the judge was through old Somare's links. A very popular businessman in Enga and a strong NA man was used as the middle man....man with the briefcase!!

Some reliable sources from Kokopo has said, Don Polye stormed out of the NA camp as soon as Ipatas walked in and old Somare giving him a hug.

The grand conspiracy that I assumed was just that and couldn't be proven seems to be slowly creeping to surface...look out for more!!!

Integrity is something someone has to work for in life. Integrity is when someone puts acts according to his words, withstanding storm, snow, rain, earth quake, tsunami etc.

Leaders without vision will slowly tend to show weakness in their actions by undermining their own integrity. Integrity is vital for leaders. Leaders who undermine their own itegrity are selfish and indiviudalistic in thinking. They wont have their own people at their heart.

People who have the capacity to lead, lead with integrity as their cornerstone. They stand on their own rights and dont bow down to undue pressure.

As for the current state of affair, Ipatas has lost his integrity as a person. All of us were aware of his tough stand against the ruling National Alliance party. After his declaration he suddenly decided to move in together with National Alliance. Shows how shallow a person is. He cant stick to his guns, shows he does not have any integrity at all. It is a shame, Enga is being led by such a fool.

As for Don Polye to fly out of Kokopo, i think he has every right. Ipatas has slammed him in public. All of PNG knew about it because Ipatas and some of Don Polye's political enemies came out publicly in the media claiming that Don Polyes has rigged the election process. Ipatas was adamant in destroying Don Polye's name in public and now he decided to go behind Don Polye's back, side-tracking to make sure Don dont know about his moves and hook-up with the old frail Sepik man, who must have drilled him from behind. Thats, a trait for the Sepiks so the old man must have done a good job from behind on Ipatas.

Leaders without any integrity dont deserve my respect as an Engan Citizen. I dont have respect for old Somare because he never lived up to his words. He said that 2002 election was his last, and he will reliquish the leadership of NA to someone younger, but he never stuck to his guns, thats why i lost trust in him and i never respected him.

Personally, i dont have any respect for leaders who say something but act differently. They got no integrity at all, and they dont deserve my respect. As long as i live, i dont have any respect for Ipatas, Somare, John Pudari and Wenge. They dont seem to potray leadership qualities for other would be young leaders to model their characters.

They are not good role models for would be leaders. My thums down for such creeps who can go so low to satisfy their own ego at the cost of the people that they represent. Stand for what you belive in, dont budge when pressure mounts on you.

I think, life in general, thats the motto that we should live. Dont sell yourself for second best, go for the best and remain steadfast in your decisions, and let your actions portray your beliefs and words... Amen..

Firstly I agree with you cool_guy1 and your piece is something to be reckoned with. Secondly, to these people intergrity and clear conscience or any other word for that matter have no relevance and substance in them. These words mean nothing to them....when these words are spoken they are mere noise to their ears. There is a distinction between a noise and a word, to the rest of us intergrity is a word and we know what it is etc....but to the people you made reference to these are just noise.

Thirdly,Billy Graham (world's greatest evengelist) once said, big upsets and blunders happen to us when we thrust in the princes of this world, frustrations, unmet expectations, failed promises, lewa pain etc. However this should serve as a lesson for us to thrust not in the princes of this world but only in the God.

Blessings
