Below is an article on today's PC.

I will not be surprised if those involved are MIOKS players! IF they are MIOKS players then I will be very dissapointed. Enga's image has been dragged through mud in the Tokua incident by the players and this time it will have been tossed into a public toilet pit!

These MIOKS players must pay dearly IF they are involved! If someone knows please confirm.

Players face rape charge

PORT Moresby police yesterday picked up five players from a SP Cup rugby league team for questioning over an alleged pack rape attack at one of the city’s hotels.
National Capital District police superintendent Mark Kanawi confirmed a woman from Southern Highlands Province early yesterday morning went to the Boroko police station and laid a complaint claiming she was forcefully carried to a hotel and raped by players from a Highlands-based rugby league team.
The team is one of the nine competing in the semi-professional rugby league competition. This is the second reported incident concerning rugby league players.
Last month seven players were arrested and charged by police for disorderly behaviour and assaulting civil aviation officials at the Tokua airport in East New Britain Province.
Those seven players were reportedly suspended by the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League and are not taking part in the competition.
Mr Kanawi said five men were picked up by police at the hotel with the assistance of the woman who identified them to the police.
“The suspects were brought in for questioning and should be charged today,” Mr Kanawi said.
Meanwhile, the management of a hotel yesterday refuted claims the woman was raped in the hotel premises.
“No, nothing happened within our premises. The incident happened at the back (outside) of our premises and our security guards notified the police who came and arrested the suspects,” according to the management.
The hotel management said the team had booked in at their hotel but ruled out the rape incident having happened there.
The management of the team could not be reached for comments.

these are not Souths players. they are Enga Mioks players. they have again disgraced Enga. Can something serious be done about this? we cannot continue to allow such idiots sabotage Enga's image thru such psychotic behaviour. People have a very negative image of our province because of tribal fights and other generic views and most thinking and good Engans are doing everything in their respective walks of life to eradiacte these image. Yet such barbaric behaviours from the Miok players is just reinforcing their stereotypical assumptions of us.

The relevant authoritiers must look into this matter and issue strict discipline on the culprits. the mioks must ban these idiots from representing enga foreever.

Banned they may be but the Engan image has been tainted badly by the 2 events. This tainted image will be hard to correct. I won't be suprised if the Mioks are not admitted to play in next year's SP cup. The original Mioks team that started in this comp some 10 years still stands out as the best team Enga has ever produced. It had the whole province following the team. The current team is full of drunks, drug addicts and rapist of late. Please don't apply for admission to the comp if the same players are going to be involved next year.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a sad, sad day for Enga. 2007 was never meant to be ours, rugby-wise! I feel shame as we have even made the Simbu Warriors' seem like saints compared to our attitude on and off the field. The management needs to change and there needs to be a whole new lineup next year with stringent criterias including discipline and commitment, before selecting players for the team. Overall, I am very disappointed by the Enga Mioks' performance on and off the fields.

News, Thursday 16th August , 2007

4 Mioks players in lock-up

FOUR rugby league players have been remanded in custody at the Bomana prison outside Port Moresby over rape charges.
The four – members of the Mioks Rugby League club in the semi-professional SP Cup competition – appeared in court yesterday charged with rape.
They are Nathan Anjo, 25 from Aitai village Wabag, Roy Anthony, 25, from Wabag town, Jeffrey Mino, 20, from Mapisenda village, Wapenamanda and Moses Kunga, 20, from Teremanda village Wabag.
According to a police statement of facts, a woman, believed to be from the Southern Highlands, had alleged that on Monday at around 3am, she was at a nightclub with her younger sister and two male companions when they were offered a lift by the players to a city hotel in downtown Port Moresby.
On arriving at the hotel, she was asked by some members to go into the hotel with them but she refused.
She and her three companions decided to leave the hotel on foot. While walking away from the hotel along the Poreporena Highway, they were attacked by a group of men.
The woman claimed she was punched in the face and carried to a secluded area of the highway by one of the suspects while the others chased away her companions.
She was stripped naked and the four men each took turn in having sex with her, police allege.
She claimed she recognised the suspects because there was enough light provided by the street lights on the highway.
The matter was reported to police who took the woman to the hotel where she identified several men.
All four were charged with one count each of sexual penetration.
Four men appeared briefly at the Waigani Committal Court for mention and their case has been adjourned to August 27.
PNG Rugby Football League chief executive officer Jeff Wade said he would not comment at this stage because he had no accurate information about the allegations against the players.
“I have yet to receive more information on the allegation so I won’t comment on this one,” Mr Wade said. This is the second reported incident concerning the Mioks rugby league team.
Last month seven of their players were arrested and charged by police for disorderly behaviour at the Tokua airport in the East New Britain province.
The seven players have since been suspended by the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League.

This cannot be tolerated forever!

Just few weeks ago , there was this fiasco at the Tokua Airport where drunk Enga Miok players breached serious Air Traffic and Transport Laws. Enough negativity and bad publicity has been engaged.

Now, hardly the dust from this has settled and these idiotic animals are at it again with rape charge in Port Moresby. Come on, something is seriously wrong somewhere!!!

In this modern day and age the public and the code cannot put up with rogue, undisciplined pigs like these anymore.

I urge the PNGRFL to ban these players for life and suspend Enga Mioks franchise for 5 Years.

Unfortunately, because of such narrow minded idiots like these, the opportunity for other law abiding Engan rugby players have been jeopardized.

Let these idiots involve themselves in the tribal warfare back in Enga and die. Enga will never shift an inch minus such lowly animals like these

What a shame, shame, shame....I utterly condemn this barbaric act. On behalf of the rest of Enga I apologise to the PNGRFL and the code.....please know that these players do not have the mandate of the Enga people to satisfy their lustful desires in the way they did. The all of Enga condemn this act.

Don't worry the whole Enga mioks team will be out there playing the greatest game of all because....they will appeal their case before the supreme court. Therefore, their case will be pending so in the meantime they will be free to play.....James, John and Andrew version of the law will be applied here.

No thanks
