I totally agree with you Ipatas-Fan. That the Grand Thief Somare has ruined this nation and ran it like his own family empire. There is more to that list you have just stated. He knows that, now he is standing on tip-toes and his feet is not on the ground, a bit shaky for a old man.. hey..
Now, all Prime Ministerial aspirants have to do better in their own electorates or provincials. For those sitting MP's who are aiming for the top job, they got to come out with a clean book to lead the nation. Leading the nation is different from leading a province or an electorate, and we need people with clean books (i.e. never implicated in any-way) and proven track records, while serving as an ordinary MP. If such credentials are lacking, then, i think aspiring Prime Ministerial candidates should stop crying out loud.
In another post, i have highlighted the fact, that, sitting MP's should let their past actions as MP's determine their current aspirations to lead the province and the country. If they led the people well in the past 5 years, then they should not cry out loud. I for one feel that some people are aiming for the top post as an election gimmick. That kind of ploy will only fool idiots, but, those that know and felt their past leadership style will stand by their decision. Within the 5 years that those sitting MPs were in Parliament, the people felt their presence or non-presence at home and they already stood judged, and i know the ballot papers will speak out loud.
There are some sitting MP's who are currently felling shaky and are doing everything and anything to get in again. The people have the power right now during this election period and they surely will speak out their disatisfaction or satisfaction over a current sitting MP.
My choice for Prime Ministerial material to lead the nation for the next five years are.. two great reformist in PNG.. Sir Mekere Morauta and Bart Philemon.. These guys are great reformist and PNG needs reformist who have the vision to drive this nation forward. They have shown what they can do. I am happy that they signed a MOU to form the next government.. and i for one will vote for their candidates.. I think, we should vote along party lines, and not according to Moka or wantok lines.. We should think about the next five years... I beleive, such people like Rabbie Namaliu hasnt made any commitment yet, but, he sure will side with this two reformist and PNG will be in safe hands... If however, not one of this guys get into become the prime minister, the next 5 years will be hell. Paias Wingti has tried and has failed miserably, Somare has reigned several times, but he is more concerned about his empire, as for Yawari and Ipatas.. i think they have smeared their names already, facing corruption charges and found guilty..Such people with smeared images will always bring dis-repute to this nation, if they lead.. So you see, there is no other capable PM candidate.. then to have Sir Mekere and Bart.. take on that responsibility.. O ya... what about Don Polye.. i admire his courage.. but he is still a young politician without expereince.. he need to return back as an MP for the second and third term.. and then he will stand out tall.. At this time.. i dont think he is ready to handle that job...
Few of my thoughts..
