Paeo, If there were any learnings from the first ever attempt by Talyaga and Ipatas in the 90's, I believe they were;
1. Ownership of the process by respective MP's
2. No positive feedback from professionals - maybe due to political differences
3. No clear or precise objectives on how what projects, etc. these Engan professionals were to be engaged in
4. Resources - No appointment of officers to drive the initiative
5. others incl. no acknowledgement and followup correspondence to appreciate partnership of the process being developed.

Per my earlier note, suggest you do an adv on the PNG media papers and assess the responses and encourage the MP and his office to take ownership. I guess, Stephen has already sold the idea to his dad so go for it... I see, you guys are keen and geared up to fastrack the progress so go for it guys... BOLA. I'l ask the MP if I do bump into him in POM, end of this month...

DA,

The areas you have identified for the previous excercises failure are noted. I beleive any new effort to engage the skilled people from the district or province for that matter will be seen by all interested party to be for the progress of our province.

Now I may be speaking for myself here but I believe that those of us that do want to help out should not expect anything from the MP. I suppose the MP should be asked to provide logistical support to the team to collect information or carry out feasibility studies or to conduct a survey. If we are serious about changing our district's image, it will surely need the efforts of the concerned at minimal cost to the District. I am sure many will put their hands up for the sake of our people back in the villages.

Naro, Steve and Freddie, are we still going ahead with the database that we said we should develop? I believe a proper database will be time consuming to develop so I was wondering if a excel database would be the way to go for now.

Paeo

Kaim, sorry I hadn't noticed your message earlier. I'm currently waiting on Freddie to send me his particulars before I forward them to the Office of the MP. I intend to have Freddie as our main webpage producer and manager for www.lagaip-porgera.net

I'm sure he is more than able to compile and produce the database, while we should play the role of relaying to him the data and information required of skilled Lagaip-Porgerans.

Do not worry! We'll get this project initiated once Freddie has forwarded me his details and payment has been made. Bye the way, the MP will be in Tokyo this week to see my Pyrethrum Developer, so I will communicate to him verbally all that we have discussed. So Freddie, it would be good if you have your particulars e-mailed ASAP.

Steve,

Thanks for the update, let us know when it's all sorted out.

In the meantime, I have created a yahoo email account for people to write to with their details so that we start collecting the primary information. All skilled people from the district and Enga for that matter who want's to contribute in any way can write to this email address lagaip.porgera@yahoo.com and pass on your details. I have made up a simple excel speadsheet for this so I will email the spreadsheet if you sent an email to this address.

Freddie can get the information off from this database and refine it to creat that webpage for the district and all the other information on the skilled resources pool.
