Hi all,

Mama1 has 9 chicks now, 8 are black and white and 1 is white. Mama2 has 4 chicks so far, 3 black and white and 1 yellow (like the color of egg yolk). Wonder what color the yellow will turn into, hmmmm. So we moved Mama1 and her chicks to a new brooder twice the size of where she hatched them. Boy, was she upset when we pulled her out and put her in her new home!!!! She put up quite a fuss and it took her about an hour to calm down. We gave her her chicks as fast as possible, collected them all in a box and moved them over. The chicks are now running all over the place in there. One of our turkeys dropped by for a visit this morning and Mama1 hissed, pecked, and fussed at him while all her babies were on the other side of the brooder. That was quite interesting to see, I had to go in to check it all out. The turkey retreated fast too. Awesome how protective Mama1 is of her babies.
