I got this great idea to let my Silkies out for a little run and my 18 Guineas desided to show them who was boss. They were attacking my poor little Silkies with now retreat. Finally, I ran all the guineas into to Silkie pen so the silkies could have some free range in peace. I stayed out and watched them. NOw the trick was to get my silkies back in before I went in side! What a circus! If I let the guineas out to put the silkies back in they would attack again so I put the silkies in with the Peachicks and low and behold, the Peachicks didn't want anything to do with them in there territory either so my biggest Pea attacked one of the silkies and drew blood. NOW WHAT!!! I let the Silkies back out and ponder this for a bit. Finally, I called Randy out and had him let the guineas out and heard them to the other side of the yard while I got the Silkies back in. They now, Have desided they didn't want to go back in so that was like doing a fast waltz all over and around and around the pens. I have 17 silkies and I had to catch them one by one and two by two until they were all back in. Meanwhile Randy is having trouble keeping the Guineas at bay!!! OH MAN!!!!! I will never do that again. We built a turnout pen after that. Each breed gets a turn for about and hour. Shoot, They are so spoiled anyway and get all kinds of treats like SPinach and lettuce and once a week we go to town where there is always a guy on the side of the road selling watermellons for a dollar. We get 4 of them and cut them in half and put a half in each pen. They love that and will clean it out in no time. Even the rind!! What a day that was. Lot's of Guineas screaming and running around like banchies!!
We found another nest too but none have hatched from the first one yet although she is still setting it!! Don't know if they are any good but I will let mother nature take it's course...
