Over the past year and a half I have tried a bunch of the supplements currently on the market that are supposed to rev your metabolisim, stop carb calorie absorbtion, etc. I did not see any results from adding them to my regime. But one little known supplement does make a huge difference in my cravings and appetite, and that is 5-HTP. I was taking one in the morning and one right after supper, and have since gone to 2 and 2. When I don't take it, especially the after supper one, I really get the urge to munch BAD! But when I take it, I feel calm and in control of cravings. I also would suggest a good multi-vitamin. I take all sorts of supplements for various things. If you are cutting back on a lot of fats you might want to consider taking a supplement with EFA's (essential fatty acids) such as Omega twin whcih has the same fats as in fish oil but you can get it in a capsule. Also Primrose oil is good. I take the capsules since a dose is only like 25 calories rather than the oils themselves which can be pretty caloric. I do eat a lot of salmon also, and try to have small amounts of olive oil (like total of a tsp. per day).
As for the holidays, parties, dinners, etc. I have done pretty well with all of these for the past year and a half. There have been tons of these in all that time. I haven't ever given in to debauchery at any of these events. The worst i will do is eat a bite of something "bad". If you fill up on salad (watch the dressings!!) and aim for some lean protein you will do OK. Stay busy. Help serve if that is an option. Drink non-caloric beverages or just plain water, and talk and move around. One thing I really have found is true is that one bite tsates the same as eating the whole thing. If you are undeniably drawn to something taboo have one small taste. You could go at the event with two stategies...you could eat a salad or have a protein shake before going to the event or you could wear something tight and unforgiving and go with the good feeling of your tummy not sticking out! I have done both stategies. Not sure which is better. Both worked. I keep Pria protein bars in my purse. They are delicious & 110 calories. If you are somewhere where there is little healthy to eat you can nibble on your protein bar descretely. I have sort of "gotten off" on feeling like those super models or actresses who wouldn't dream on putting something bad for their bodies in their mouths. I know I don't look like them but I can get to that place in my head where I tell myself I am one of those women, and then I act like that....totally immune to the lure of rich and fatty foods, and just thinking of what is best for me.
see my post titled "magickal mindset"
hugs,
Dreemy
