Here is an interesting tidbit for all of you about water retention and water intake:

If you have a problem with bloating (who doesn't!), then here is the skinny on water retention...If you drink a lot of water (like an oz. for every lb you weigh) on a regular basis, it does several things; It increases your metabolic temperature, thus burning more calories and assisting the flushing out of fat from your system, and it tells your body that it can count on regular, consistent, hydration. With your body getting the message that there is always so much water coming in, it releases stored water from your cells, thus eliminating water retention. (plus if you have to always be drinking your water, you don't feel like eating so much!) Oh yeah, and your skin will be gorgeous!

Now for the trick! Got a special occasion coming up? Really hit the water hard (you should be always doing this anyways but just in case you were neglectful!) and make sure you watch the salt and salty foods (watch for hidden salt in things like soup this time of yearfor at least a week, preferrably 2. Then on the big day stop drinking the water!! If it is a daytime event, cut back 24 hours before, If it is a night-time event, then start cutting back that morning. Go for like a third of your usual water intake over the whole day. You will notice a huge difference especially in your belly. Your face will show it too.

Now warning! You can't do this continually or your body will start hoarding water again because it fears a drought! And when you get home from the event, drink at least a huge glass of water or 2 before retiring. The next day get right back to your usual intake or H2O. Oh also avoid coffee and alcohol as they dehydrate the body. If you do drink any alcohol at your special event keep it very minimal as it will cause a reaction the next day of making your body try to hoard water.

As for ammunition at special events when there will be food temptations, you can do several things....pack artifical (or splenda)sweetners, tea bags, and even lite salad dressings in your purse. If you can pull it off (depending on the event) you can even pack things like cucumber sticks, or an apple in your handbag. When I travel, I go so far as to have lean protein, veggies, salad dressing, apples, etc. in a cooler in the car. I once ended up in a restaurant when we were traveling where my only healthy option was a plain salad for supper...I went out to the car and discretely snuck in a little baggie of shrimp and my salad dressing and had a healthy meal!!

Another way to make sure you don't wreck your diet is to wear a very fitted outfit that you don't dare overeat in!! Eat something healthy before you go.

Remember this:

ONE BITE TASTES JUST AS GOOD AS EATING THE WHOLE THING!
&
NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING AT YOUR PHYSICAL BEST!

good luck to all through the holiday season,
love,
Dreemy
