In reply to: SapphireMist 's message, "So how did you do over Thanksgiving???" on 16:36:39 12/06/02 Fri

I did ok on thanksgiving...even excercised. The highlight was that I fit into a dress I have had for about 4 years but never worn. It was from a Laura ashley store in Raleigh, NC. It was originally a $150 dress....wine collored with small floral print, little bit of a ruffle neckline, mid-calf. The dress was on sale for $36...a size 12. At the time I felt I just couldn't pass it up even though I couldn't get into it AT ALL. So I had bought it and tried to lose weight at the time and never did succeed enough to even squeeze into it much less do it justice. I had tried it on in October and I could get into it but it was unattractively tight. But on Thanksgiving day I slid into it like silk and then realized afterwards it had a side zipper that I hadn't even needed to unzip to get it on!!!! Very awesome feeling. So I wore it...and it helped me stay motivated to be mindful of what i ate, too.

Since thanksgiving I have had some interesting things to report. I had another rough time with PMS. I sort of went with it, and figured I would see the scale drop back down when I was past my period and the bloat. But it didn't leave even though I was being good. I did a semi-fast for 1 day with home-made veggie broth, spiruteen shakes and lots of water. I dropped 4 lbs over night. But the next day with only adding a salad to that the scale jumped up again. I went one more day with the salad, broth and shakes and it went back down again. Then I went back to my normal diet plan and the next day up a lb again. So I guess the bottom line is that It really didn't help anything to vary my regime. I probably would have ended up the same had I done what I usually have been doing diet-wize. It was an interesting experiment. I think it is good to know if one had an emergency date or something where you had to fit into something that was tight and only a day or so to do it.....but otherwize I think it doesn't accomplish anything.

So, I am back to the same conclusion that it is just going to take time....lots....and be a slow-process. I started at 205 (which if this new digital scale is right, and I believe it is, means that I was really 8 lbs more than that when I started, so 213) and to date I have lost 45 lbs. I am just under 5'4" and having been a dancer my goal is to lose at least another 40 to 45 lbs. I will have to evaluate when I get there. (notice I said WHEN!) I figure it will get harder and slower the further I go. It may be well into the Spring or even longer, I know. But it does feel good to have gotten this far...to be able to wear my wedding and engagement rings (couldn't even get em on before!).... to not feel so huge and unattractive....to feel more energetic and healthy...in short to feel like I am back "in life" and on my way to reclaiming me.

This coat from your Dad seems like him reaching out to you to give you support and motivation. I think it is like him sending you a big hug and incentive at the same time!

love and light-ness,
Dreemy
