Weight watchers has a new ice cream sandwich out that is round and tastes like the real thing yet has only 130 calories. They are available in many ice cream flavors including vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter, among others. The stores here aren't carrying anything but the vanilla but another company, "Silloette" has the same product with the same great taste and same calories but the flavors are even more varied...including mint, choco-peanut swirl, strawberry and coffee. So far I have tried the vanilla, the mint and the coffee. These are definitely worth planning into your daily calorie/points allowances as they can make you feel like you aren't on a diet.

Another thing that gets me through some hectic days is to always carry a soy-protein bar. two of my favorites are pria bars which are only about 110 calories and fit nicely into your purse for emergency ammunition when you can't get to healthy food or to combat other temptations..and also Gen-o-soy Extreme bars which has a myraid of flavors including carrot cake, choco mint, rocky road, choco raspberry, choc-peanutbutter (to name a few). These vary by flavor as to the calories but run between 180 to 230 per bar. However they also have more protein as well. They will work great with a portable piece of fruit such as an apple for meal replacement. Another thing I do is cut them into 2 to 4 peices and put the pieces separately in a zip-lock baggie and chill them in the fridge. Then I eat them throughout the day as if they were a candy indulgence. (I of course figure in the clories to my day's total.) they are very very luscious. If you have trouble finding these bars try Target. I can't find the variety of flavors or the Geno-soy Extreme any where else. Oh yes, and something weird in our Target store....some of the bars are in one place and some are down the same isle in a different place....go figure. I had given up and then found the second location by accident.

Need to crunch on something?? Well, aside from the wonderful stand-by, Hot air popcorn....try some Total raisin bran dry out of the box...now just a palm-ful or about 1/2 a cup and try not to include the raisins. Very satisfying crunch, adds bran/fiber, and only about 35 to 40 calories if you skip the raisins. i also keep raw almonds and raw cashews around when I absolutely have to crunch something. They are a good balanced food and i only eat about 5 to 7 nuts at a time, maybe once or sometimes twice a day...just enough to do the trick.

One of my favorite things to munch on are red bell peppers. they are very sweet, and crunchy and very low in calories...not even worth having to count.

Have you decided to indulge yourself with shrimp on a regular basis....as a protein source they are the leanest calorie-count option out there aside from perhaps egg-whites. Buy a 2 lb. bag of frozen large raw shell-on shrimp and keep the bag in the freezer. (I get the 11-15 count)Thaw out 6 or 7 shrimp a few times a week for your meals. Boil water and drop thawed shrimp (thaw overnight in the fridge) into the boiling water. Boil for 5 minutes only and quickly place in cold water. Peel the shells off when they are cool enough to handle. I usually grill them for a couple of minutes after that with a little garlic powder and pepper on my george foreman grill and then put them on a large salad for supper. I probably eat this meal for supper about 3 times a week at least. Other proteins I eat for supper are fresh salmon filet, eye round thick cut steak grilled (4 to 5 ozs after-cooking), very lean hamburger patties grilled, and white meat chicken.

Well....bon appetite friends!!

Oh BTW...it is official as of today....I have made it to the total lbs lost of 50. I only lost 1 lb this week and I excercised like a demon every single day and was good as gold. But it is a grand victory and milestone just the same, n'est pas?

hugs!
Dreemy
