Subject: Slash group... time to get down and dirty.....

Okay, slashers... I feel some naughtiness coming on... Members of this groups are:

Chani
morgain
girlguidejones
kelso28
Robin

Some of you have done this before, but there are a few newbies, so members of the group may want to introduce themselves and help out / answers any questions. You may want to determine on how you will decide on your recommendation and have a volunteer coordinate all of the suggestions and send on the final recommendation. The time frame is from Feb 17- Mar 3 for each team to pick the story to represent you and your ship. If you need to consult criteria or rules, visit the website at:

http://www.katlurkin.com/fanfic/index.html

Have fun, ‘cause this is what it is all about!

I am passing on her slash recommendations:

My "péché mignon" is Ethan (behind Spike of course....Oops... not behind like he is positioned behind Spike, although...) so I've looked for some Giles/Ethan fics...

This ones are short, non NC-17 rated and not bad:

********************** Part #2 [She has been busy...]

I like my Ethan/Giles pairing but I found this fic very interesting, it is about William becoming Spike and his relationship with Angelus, Dru and Darla...Mostly William/Angelus and NC-17 rated:

http://ficbitch.com/peasants_plot/SweetWilliamFrontPage.html

I can forget my Ethan/Giles "fixation" if Spike is involved!

Er...Hi. Hee. I'm Robin. I...don't know anyone here. Hee.

I'll tell you right now, I like slash. Most of the time I stick to my Spike/Xander slash, but once in a while you'll catch me with something involving Wesley or Angel or Gunn. Usually...together. Hee.

I'm Canadian, 19, and a girl. I have a website. It has its own slash section, because while I am an avid, avid reader, I am also a writer.

To the group? Some people may not want to read a whole bunch, that kind of thing, so just curious.

*hugs*

I'm in Montreal! I also like S/X best. And I am 27 on the inside, 49 on the outside...

And in terms of how many... Since Chani [our resident Parisian] has put forward so many, I will hold off.

Would love to read a Spike/Wes one though.... hmmmm *in a naughty place now*

This one is Chapter 11.5 in the Domestic Piranhas series, called "And Truth In Every Shepherd's Tongue", but it can be read alone as well. It's by Mad Poetess, who I think is like, the GODDESS of Spike/Xander slash. The chapter is Spike/Xander but mostly Wesley/Gunn/Angel.

Another favorite of mine is "Small Fry", also by Mad Poetess.

I'm also putting forth some small ones, so relax. Hee.

Now, I'm not trying to toot my own horn....well, okay, I am. Heh. That's okay. There's this one and this one.

That's all I'm putting up, because those first three are pretty long. Hope y'all don't mind, but I just think those ones are excellent. *Grin*

Basically just checking in to say I'm here. In thinking over stories to recommend, it's occurred to me that most of the best slash I've been reading lately is incomplete. The only really good completed story that's coming to mind is "Modus Vivendi," which is pretty long. So I'll think about it some more and see if I can come up with an idea or two within the next day. Otherwise, I see a fair number of recommendations already posted and I know I like Mad Poetess' stuff, will have to look up the rest. S/X is my favorite slash pairing, with A(us)/S close behind, but I'll read pretty much anything.

Like Repossession. Have you read that? It rocks my world. All 800+ pages of it. Hee! And it ain't done!

Yeah, I've been following that one. It's pretty high on my list, along with the "Chocolatey Goodness" series, which unfortunately hasn't been updated in more than a year. I also really like Jackson's "Sweet Revenge," another long WIP. Anyway, it looks like we have plenty of recommendations already so I won't be adding to the list this time around.

CG is still on hiatus, because Mad Poetess has been having issues with it. She's tried pounding it out a LOT over the year, but she still can't get it to the point where she likes it, which is understandable. Sweet Revenge has one part left, according to Jackson, and it should be out within the next month or two. So that's not too bad.

[> My votes for the group's recommendation.... -- morgain, 17:54:18 03/01/03 Sat (modemcable077.175-203-24.mtl.mc.videotron.ca/24.203.175.77)

First, I want to say I now adore Mad Poetess... So nice to reading loving male slash...

1st choice:
A Long Time: A Xander and Spike story by the Mad Poetess
This was a terrific story. Well told, good writing, represent a postive M/M relationship, but not too graphic.

2nd choice
Good Intentions by Wolfling and Mad Poetess
The language and dialogue were mesmorizing. Some "darkeness" but good characterizations. Very sensual graphic descriptions.

3rd choice
Sweet William by Peasant
I laughed so hard at the first chapter. Though not real slashy [that might be a good thing since other members of the group can get real turned off of it], it does have some [not graphic enough!] but more interestingly it has the family dynamics of the Fanged Four, posits an explanation why Spike is such an odd duck vampire, and fills in backstory, while remaininf true to what we know as canon.

Other reactions:
a. Traditions By Corona
I liked this, especially Ethan’s characterization. Well written. I would have liked a bit more from Giles. Could have used a bit more plot for context.

b. Recalling The Sea By Bonster
Sort of interesting and intriguing but a bit too enigmatic [like “What the hell did it mean?]

c. Domestic Piranha: And Truth In Every Shepherd's Tongue by James Walkswithwind and Mad Poetess - rated NC-17
Wonderful writing / dialogue and characterizations [so nice to read a M/M slashfic where pain isn’t the main theme!!], but I am not sure this is a stand alone story. There were a few things I didn’t get: the newt stuff, the alternate dimensions references, children [are they fish?], Carla, the glurble etc. It also was quite long, with not as much action as I like. But I did like it.

d. Small Fry by James Walkswithwind and the Mad Poetess
I also like this one a lot too. Had more plot, but wasn’t too slashy. So, does it really represent slash fiction?

I liked "Sweet William" the best. It had my interest from the first paragraph, which is perfect.

[> My nominations: -- Robin, 14:05:42 03/02/03 Sun (h24-70-227-27.hn.shawcable.net/24.70.227.27)

In this order:

1. A Long Time By Mad Poetess

2. Good Intentions by Mad Poetess/Wolfling

3. Small Fry by Mad Poetess. I know there isn't a lot of graphic slash, and it's mostly just implied. The sequel has a little more slash in it, but it still isn't real graphic, which non-slash readers would enjoy. But Those are my picks!

Since Long Time got 2 votes to sweet William's one [and GGj did recommend it], I am putting that one forward. Hope this is OK.

I wanted "Sweet William"!

Ok I accept the final choice, but morgain I have to disagree with you...Ok this fic isn't only a slash fic, it is much more than that, but the Angelus/William is the main ship in the story, and it is a slash ship, right?

Sorry Chani.... I wnet with what I saw in the thread... and we were late to submit... Hold onto Sweet William for next session, OK?
