Ok ladies - are we going to go with "Double Spiked" for our recommendation for this session? This is no longer on FF.net, so does someone have an alternative site to view it, if you haven't already read it? I do have it as a word document, if it is otherwise unavailable.
Chani - as per the e-mail, I would be keen to keep "Regrets" for the next session? As it would be a good follow-up to "Double Spiked".
Let me know what you all think - as time is starting to tick away.

I am ok for Doule Spiked of course, hey remember i found it and recommended it the first time before it was complete!
But can we only suggest a NC-17 rated fanfic? Some readers in our club are very young...Am i wrong?

The first is 'What She Deserves' by Herself. By far the best Post-Grave fic I read this summer, this is also one of the very few that have ever reduced me to tears. Beautiful, sensitive writing, totally believeable and quite spell-binding. Anyway, it can be found in Herself's section at http://www.buggerthis.net/ Enjoy, and bring hankies.
The second is a short story called 'Reasons' by zero. Just fantastic characterisations and great snarky, funny Spike. Some of the best Spike/Buffy dialogue I've ever read:
Number seven," he said, "should be kissing." His
voice was the soft, intimate murmur used by people sharing air, and then not even that stood between them as he closed the distance to demonstrate why kissing alone was worth living for.
"Maybe," he amended, when he'd finally drawn back, "you should make that 'kissing with tongue'. Pays to be specific."

Okay, I have a recommendation. It's "Love is Blind" by Avalon. The link is: www.allaboutspike.com/fic/048.html
It's so powerful that I've had to read it over and over during the last year or so since I first found it. Very angsty and I think truly shows the depth of Spike's devotion to Buffy. One or two chapters are NC-17, but it's not on ff.net, so it won't be going anywhere.
One drawback: it does steal a major plot idea from Angel's "The Trial" episode, but this story far exceeds that episode.
Check it out and see what you think. Some of you may have already read it, since it is 5th Season. I will check out the ones mentioned above. I've been so busy writing my own that I haven't read any of them yet.

I'm cool with either Double Spiked or What she deserves (neither of which I've read). The one about Buffy being blind kind of worries me.. I'll read it but I'm not sure if I'll like it..

I'm going to set some ground rules for this session, based on experiences from the last session.
RE the NC-17 question and do we need to find something that is not NC-17 for those younger. The youngest member of the group is JSlayerUK, who I believe is 16, (you are welcome to correct me if you like, or if there is anyone younger). From what I can tell, she is more than mature enough to cope with NC-17, as it was her that suggested "Double Spiked" for the month of September. (And a damn good choice as well!)
We can only put one story forward, regardless of rating, as realistically there isn't enough time for all members of the club to read 2 recommendations from each group. So the issue of choosing an NC-17 plus a PG or R rated story is dead. Whatever comes out top in the voting for the group will be the story put forward - regardless of the rating.
Last session we chose from 5 stories and took a vote on which one should go forward. Due to the time constraints set by Oz and Kat for this session, I suggest that we cut the recommended stories down to *3*, as not everyone can spend a lot of time online.
Therefore, I propose that the 3 stories to choose from for this session are:

Actually, come to think about it, I shouldn't be that surprised. But heck, it doesn't matter to me whatsoever. Hell, Double Spiked was the first thing I recommended. Plus I'm in England, and 17 in 3 months anyway...

Double Spiked was more happy.. and very, very smutty..

I will check out "What She Deserves", and send in my vote tomorrow. I was not overly impressed with the quality of "Double Spiked" in terms of writing; good smut though.

It's a very tough choice. After reading them all, I still believe "Love is Blind" to be the strongest story, but "What She Deserves" is certainly the most timely.
I liked "Double Spiked," but I think its appeal will be lost on anyone outside of B/S 'shippers, since ability to enjoy it depends so heavily on how much you like reading Spuffy sex scenes.
I'm voting for "What She Deserves." It presents a strong, compassionate, likable Buffy, and I think would have the most appeal for readers from the other groups.

In addition, I think the writing in Herself's story is of higher quality, and I like the characterization of Buffy better [she comes off ditzy to me in "Double Spiked"]. As well, I think her Spike reveals what many fans think this character's motivation is and depth of his remorse about the AR and his feelings for Buffy.
