Currently MosDef, Tweedisgood, Dana3, Jodyorjen, and Spooky K have all posted on this board. I have yet to see Ops, Peaches, OneTwoMany, or Tattercoats. Have I just missed you?

Could everyone check in here so we know who is actually here? Those of you who have already posted, perhaps you could do a more complete intro as well.

If anyone knows the missing, could you make sure that they know about this board?

I think that at the current deadline we only have two weeks to read fics and make our first reccomendation to the board as a whole.

I personally would prefer to move discussion of which fic to rec to email as I check my email about a zillion times a day and only check this board maybe once a day. I think most people are like that, and so discussion among ourselves would probably go faster over email and AIM than on the board.

Unless someone objects, I am going to go ahead and set up an email list for us to use.

Pheonix Burning by Yahtzee. (comments: JodyorJen secconded this one. It is absolutely the best fanfic ever written. It does contain B/A, but it is more plot driven and I wouldn�t consider it a romance or a real shipper fic. It is absolutely amazing.)

Splinter by Yahtzee (comments: This fic is pure Yahtzee. Nothing is as it seems. I love how she manages to fit this one in so well with canon, and her characters are amazing. I�m not sure if this one really belongs here though because it is Ats. Are we sticking just to BtVS? Or is Ats allowed).

Ships that Pass into Type by HonorH. (comments: this is pure parody and absolutely hillarous. There is also a sequel. Very short.)

Antitype by Sarah T (comments: a little bit of Giles before he returned to Sunnydale in �Grave.� He�s being haunted. Pretty short.)

Predator V's Slayer by Gyrus (comments: Approx 37 pages; PG; Buffy & The SG's; Set between S4 and S5
It makes use of the aliens that were in the Predator films, but you don't need to have watched the film to get the story. Gyrus describes them very well. Riley has a minimal role.)

Pen Palsby Treacle Antlers (comments: Approx 7 pages; PG 13; Angel & Spike; Crossover S6 BtVS & S3 AtS
Angel & Spike exchange letters with hilarious results. I don't know if this could also be considered a POV fics. Who care's it's just funny.)

(comment from pers: This is S/B written before season six, just so everyone knows. It�s something of a rarity form Yahtzee in that it is short. It really amazes me because aspects of it fit in so well with what we saw in season six. In some ways, I like this S/B better than season six S/B, though both are pretty unhealthy.)

Tweedisgood also has a suggestion ("an excellent story by K V Wylie about Ethan taking Dawn as his magical apprentice") but apparently has yet to find the URL.

I see that I�m not the only rabid Yahtzee fan. I was hard pressed not to suggest several others by her, but I made myself stop. I figure that they can wait �till later.

I'm twenty-four and live in British Columbia, Canada. The first Buffy episode I saw was "The Wish" which was a rather strange introduction. I was hooked anyway.

I am a fanfic addict in desparate need of a twelve-step program. I've written some of my own, but it is still in the editing stage. It will be done eventually. My favorite author is Yahtzee, who I've never bothered to bookmark because I've had her URL memorised for a year or so now.

Other stuff about me. I'm a vegetarian and live with my husband and four cats. I'm going back to school in the fall. I probably have about two years left to get my BSc in Computer Science.

Now who are all of you people?

Pers, I'm jealous of your ability to use HTML. You did a great job putting all the links in one place.

I'm 27 year old female. I've lived in London practically all my life. My favourite BtVS writers are Joss, Marti and Jane. I tend to look for fanfic that approaches their brilliance.

I started reading fanfic in May. I got bored with B/S and decided to branch out into different genres in June. It was hard work at first because I didn't know what to expect or where to look. But I have a system now. I will read the first 10 pages of any author in any genre. If I'm still bored by page 11, I put it down. I have a preference for fics where I can make an emotional connection with the character and fics with a well-paced story. I love all the BtVS characters, but my favourites are Buffy, Giles, Spike & Xander. I love our group because we have the freedom to read so many different genres. We can select the cream of the crop.

I'm still a novice when it comes finding to non-ship/other authors on the Internet, but I'm learning fast thanks to the recommendations (recs) that you guys have provided. So far, I've read 4 out of the 6 fics recommended by Pers, JodyorJen & Spooky K.

STILL LOOKING FOR FIC?
If anyone else has more recommendations please let us know ASAP because we only have 2 weeks to make our recs. If you're finding it hard to find fic or you're pressed for time, you could always read the selection that has already been posted by Pers, JodyorJen, Spooky K and myself and select your favourites. It should be easier for everyone to read & rec next month because we will have a month instead of 2 weeks.

Hey everyone,

I'm 36 and live in North Carolina. Alas, I didn't find Buffy until Bargaining but I was hooked and it has been a rampage ever since. I'm an old X-philes, so I knew about the world of fan fict and just started looking. I have been all about the B/S but, like MosDef, I've gotten bored with it and have started to branch out. Let's see, I'm also on the W/X team.

I will probably start with all of your suggestions, and actually have already read some of them. And I would love a mailing list!

I'm 14 (which means no NC-17 fics for me, hope that doesn't inconviniences anyone) and I am a mega Buffy/Angel fan. Believe me, I think my parents are scared to talk to me now, because most of the time I can find away to relate one of the shows to their conversation. Sad, huh? ;-)

Anyways, I am also on the W/X and B/A (mostly because these ships had so little I thought they could use another person) but my favorite types of fics are the non-shippy ones that could act like an episode.

BTW, a couple of the stories posted are strictly AtS (like Splinter). Are we using those types of fics.

Hello, all! My name is Jen. I'm 28, married and the mom of a three year old.

I've been reading fanfiction since last fall, and writing since last December. I write primarily Spike and Buffy, but have also written Spike/Willow and Spike/Tara. I enjoy reading unconventional ships, and hope to write more myself. I actually have a Giles/Drusilla fic that I'll be starting on soon; it doesn't get more UC than that!

I am kind of a fan fic virgin--I was hoping being in the club would help me find some of the better stories out there. But I am a rabid Buffy fan and especially need help in these long summer months. Here is some stuff about me.

I also live in B.C. along with Persephone. Tsk, I am just so lucky. I am 31 and a nurse. I like reading a variety of stuff everywhere about everything so I didn't want to be tied into a catagory.

I am setting myself up to be a wildcard in this catagory since I would like to do up some stuff which will be directly related to fic but may or may not be fic itself.

Sorry guys better late than never...I hope! I am 32 and live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I am a paralegal and have two cats. I have been watching BtVS since season one, episode one and I am definitely addicted to BtVS and BtVS fanfic! Started reading fanfic about 4 months ago started with Treacle Antlers and Kaylorin from BC&S fanfic and branched off from there. I am a B/S'r and have mostly read B/S but am wanting to broaden my horizens so to speak and read other types of fanfic.

Do not have a problem with a mailing list: AIM name is Angelacats2. Things are crazy for me at work this month so I will probably start out reading the suggestions above but, will have some of my own suggestions by next month.

I'm 41 (ouch) female, English, Gilesphile, a fanfic writer myself in a small way.
I recommended Sarah T's (not Kim Wylie, *sorry* Sarah) great gen fic Anywhere But Here.It's medium length, stars Ethan Rayne and Dawn Summers, and is a post-Gift fic exploring the idea that Dawn rebels and Ethan helps her, but she learns something about the downside of serving chaos. Very good concept and characterisation.
