Does that mean stories that don't emphasize a ship or stories with a ship other than the ones in the clubs (like X/A or *shudder* B/R)

If the plot is all about a couple fighting and shagging, I classify it as a shippy fic.

not included in the other groups. By defenition, that would include things such as B/R or X/A.

The group is called Other and not non-ship. It is meant for the very small ships (B/R, X/A, ect) But also for non-shippy stories. General fics of any nature, genre, rating.

But if the majority of you in the Other category would like it to be simply Non-ship. with no romance then let me know and I'll change it. Maybe you guys should get together and discuss it.

I'm willing to go along with either Non-Ship, or various pairings under the "Other" heading.

The Non-Ship suggestions by Spooky K look like good ones, too :-)

I'm happy for it to be any fics not already covered as that includes minority ships plus gen fics and widens the field.

I'd like to recommend an excellent story by K V Wylie about Ethan taking Dawn as his magical apprentice. soon as I find the URL I'll get back with it.

So, if say we wanted to rec Pheonix Burning by Yahtzee because it is absolutely the best fanfic ever written, we should leave it ot the B/Aers because it contains B/A? (though I consider it more plot driven and the romance just on the side.

I second that suggestion. It is an amazing piece of fanfiction and would be a great first pick.

Sorry for the length of this post. It contains links for those that are looking for Non-Ship fics and my recommendations for this month. I have 4 favourites, but I don't expect you guys to read them all. I just thought it would be good to provide a wide selection {Comedy, Action, Drama, POV} because I don't know what you guys like yet. Maybe we should have an ice breaker ? I have also attempted to provide a clearer idea of what I think Non-Ship fic might include. But this is open for debate. I think we should talk about it. I promise to never post anything this long again :)

Perhaps we should narrow down the list of possible fics to an agreed number , spend a couple of weeks reading them and then get together as a group and narrow the list down to 3-4 outstanding fics. Once we have done that, it shouldn't be too difficult to select 1 fic to recommend for August. The other fics can always be kept in reserve for later. This way, we can build an archive of excellent fics that we have all read, thus the selection process will become easier every month. I'm lazy :)

ACTION
Predator V's Slayer by Gyrus
Approx 37 pages; PG; Buffy & The SG's; Set between S4 and S5
It makes use of the aliens that were in the Predator films, but you don't need to have watched the film to get the story. Gyrus describes them very well. Riley has a minimal role.

Angel & Spike exchange letters with hilarious results. I don't know if this could also be considered a POV fics. Who care's it's just funny.

3) Point of View Fics (POV)
Fics that focus on one or two characters point of view. At their best they are insightful at there worst they are boring and reflect the authors agenda/bias.

I do see where the confusion comes in though. In Oz's rules posting, he does call our group Non-Ship. So, is that a clear vote? Shall we change the group name to "Everything else?"

I signed up for non-ships becuase I didn't want to be limited to a particular ship. I care more about good writing than what ship is in the fic. I'd prefer leaving our group open to anything and everything, even stuff that does include one of the major ships.

I think that it might be a good idea if we informally tried to make sure we gave more emphasis to fic that wouldnt' fall into one of the other catagories, but I don't think that we should disalow it.

I like the way Oz currently has the rules set up because I still really, really want to rec Pheonix Burning. The B/Aers might, but i haven't seen any obvious activity from them here yet. (I might just be blind to it.. i haven't actually read every thread.).
