Angelina sat up slowly. The first thing to enter her mind was the smell of the smouldering fen-hawk carcass just beside her. Ignoring Nobel, she rolled to one side in disgust and stood, tottering a few steps before collapsing again on weak legs. At last, the Silent Paw's urgent words reached her; rubbing her head (so that her fiery curls piled charmingly up on top), she looked down at herself with a troubled expression. "I...I'm fine," she replied. "I'm okay."

It took a moment for the reality of this to sink in. She had just been hit full-on by a ravenous fen-hawk; how could she be unhurt? The pain had been overwhelming - aside from the hawk's talons and the pressure of its grip, part of her blast had backfired and she had felt (with horrible clarity) the skin burning and peeling away from her arms, leaving the bare bones exposed. She had felt that! Yet here she was, sitting on the mountainside in the cheerful morning sunshine, as whole as she'd ever been - better, even. Her eyes grew wide as she rubbed frantically at her leg, trying to find the bleeding scrape that had been there moments before. Nothing. And her ankle, that had twisted in the rock - she rotated it slowly. No swelling, no bruising, not even a hint of pain. All of the bumps and bruises that she had acquired in the past few weeks were simply gone without a trace.

But it was not in Angie's nature to dwell on such things - especially when a certain fuzzy-arsed cat kept butting at her with his head, urging her to check on the others. She shoved him away, grumbling, and crawled across the pebbles and thin grass to where Jeff lay. At the sight of blood in his hair a flash of alarm hit her (and she felt foolish for it), but it was simply from the scrape his head had acquired from the rock. Angie checked his pulse. "He's fine, just a little bumped up," she told Nobel, absently prodding at Gwennie. The masked Silent Paw took no notice of her or Nobel, staring instead across the path at Alexis' still body.

Angie frowned thoughtfully and made her way over to the other girl. "Hey - hey, girl," she said, shaking Alexis' shoulder as gently as her turbulent spirit could muster. But the girl was out cold. Not a mark on her but what had been there previously...but Angie thought she sensed something different about the pale girl. Something cold and distant that ran through the body like a stream. She pulled away uncomfortably. "She...I guess she's okay. Doesn't seem to be anything really the matter."

::Tiger-lir,:: she addressed Monet briskly, not bothering to keep the mind-link private. ::You know what happened to your girl, surely. Tell me.::

Wesimbi caught Kira up in his powerful arms for a gentle hug, and then released her into the air again. "You did well, ya-ista. Go now and attend to the Cheysula - and do call me if you begin to attract more mind-thieves." He smiled, and began to head back toward Gabriel and the others.
