::There is no warrior nearby,:: she replied in answer to Monet's question, after a brief scan of the area. ::This lir has the air of a scout.:: She listened carefully as Monet contacted the young eagle.

Evan jumped in alarm as the strange voice entered his head, and immediately cursed himself for not guarding his mind.
::My clan is close behind,:: he replied immediately and with boldness. ::My warrior travels with them. I fly ahead to see firsthand those we are tracking. You would do well to stay away from these humans-- they are under my clan's protection. Where is your clan, O intruding ones?::
Gwenneth laughed merrily into the mindlink. ::Our clan also travels behind us,:: she said to the eagle lir, winking at Monet. ::We also track these three humans. I would advise you to keep away from us, O impetuous one.::

Angie nodded brusquely and swallowed. "Sure. No problem. I..."
She stopped speaking as Alexis whispered into her mind. Her sharp eyes quickly scanned the immediate surroundings, and she spied the young eagle high in a tree. ::You're right,:: she returned quietly. ::Directly behind you, fifty feet up. An eagle...::
Just then she noticed Jeff looking curiously, and not without some suspicion, between the two g.irls. Quickly, she coughed and knelt, splashing water onto her face.
"Come on, if you're coming," she said. "Water's a bit chilly, but it'll do."
Jeff nodded and gently helped Alexis to her feet. He didn't like the very strange look that had passed between them, and Angie's bizarre behavior made him wary, but at this point he was willing to endure suspicion and fear for the chance of learning more about these two strange but intriguing females he'd been dumped into the company of.
