Gwenneveire opened her eyes. The cave was all in darkness now, as the last strains of the sunset light faded altogether from the western sky, but after a moment her vision cleared and her keen eyes picked out the details of their shelter. She could hear Monet speaking to her gently, and suddenly all the memories of that day came flooding back. She sat up in a rush, causing the great golden tiger to step back in mild alarm.
Trembling slightly, Gwenneth breathed an enormous sigh of relief as she realized that she had not been unconscious for very long. Concern for her boy overwhelmed her, and she turned back to Monet with a small smile.
::I apologize for my rudeness,:: she said quietly. ::My boy and I owe you and your liren a tremendous debt of gratitude. I beg of you, where is my boy now? Is he alright?::
Just then, the voices of Kaleadora and Nashota echoed back from the cave's entrance, and Gwenneth raised her large ears, startled. Scenting the air, she spoke again. ::And, if you please, dear Monet, why are there two Jellicles conversing outside our shelter?::
