 Kalea nodded silently, holding tight to her sister's hand as they hurried through the woods, her every movement betraying her unease. She was not as confident as Nashota that they had left the danger behind.

She stopped suddenly, the sound of the river filling her ears. ::What if they come and fight us, and it's all our fault?::

She released her sister's hand and crept out of the cover and up to the water, dipping in a cupped hand and bringing it to her mouth to drink. Her ears drooped glumly on either side of her head.

She was totally unaware of the two pairs of eyes that watched her, wide and startled, from directly across the river.
