Anwex snorted and sneezed and batted reflexively at Phisto's tail, already looking more cheerful. "They're very bright," she said politely. "My tribe is usually very far north from here - we can even see the mountains-like-teeth from our hilltops. Sometimes it gets so cold that the rain turns all white!" She nodded solemnly, red eyes wide. "But it never makes the ground white, only wet just like normal rain. Mumma says that it used to make the ground white, and it would pile up and you could play in it. But that's only in stories. Hey look, food!" She trotted a few steps to where Neva and Negasi stood over their kill. "Can we go eat, sir?"

::Why, thank you.:: Gwen's eyes were brimming with happiness. ::The little Avariel did this to me, he brought out what was true. That was before we went into the caves...oh Monet, the caves! There is much to be told. Tell me, what happened? How did you come to be imprisoned in that tower?::

"Listening! Yes, of course." Jeff smiled bravely. "Alexis, can I ask you something?" She looked up at him with her crystal blue eyes and he had to concentrate before he remembered what he had been going to say. "I just, I was wondering if maybe...after some time, of course, when we settle...when things settle down...if maybe you could show me, teach me, or something...well, how to change." He bit his lip. "I mean, how to be a Silent Paw. I mean, I can, right? My brothers can change, so can't I?"

Michael laughed for the sheer joy of being here, surrounded by family. There was a general air of celebration in the little group and though there were no dwellings or fires or other familes, Michael heard echoes of a tribal life that he had long since left behind.
"Evan eats too much, that's all." The boy grinned as the eagle nipped his shoulder and, with a few lazy flaps, moved to perch on a rock. ::Don't fault me because you're just a skinny boy.::

Cassiel folded her hands in her lap, looking helplessly at Gabriel. "How do I fare? Brother, I have been much better." She smiled, but it was thin and not very cheerful. "Raziel was very brave, Gabriel. She will recover and be better than before...but for me the worst is yet to come. I'm afraid I shall once again be your burden, dear one. Forgive me, I could not oppose him." She blinked back tears and wiped her eyes quickly. "Gabriel, I...I can already feel it. Not physically, but...something lurking in the back of my mind. I fear that things are going to get much worse, and quickly."
She shook her head, and placed a trembling hand on her brother's. It was quite the contrast - despite her ill treatment Cassiel's hand was slender and delicate-looking, a bit chapped but lovely; Gabriel's hand was broad and callused, darkened by the sun. Looking at their hands Cassiel felt the tears rising again, and hung her head. "Oh, Gabe...Gabe, what are we going to do?"
