It Takes A Man (Chapters One to Five)

“It Takes A Man” it begins on January 21, 2002 our time, January 7 or so, THEIR time. It’s what I think should’ve happened when Todd walked into the mansion and heard Paloma trying to tell Blair the truth. Enjoy!

Todd walked through the mansion doors just as Paloma started to tell Blair the truth about their baby. Paloma kept repeating “Senora Blair, el bebé no es muerto.” She ranted in spanglish for a few minutes before (Todd flashes back to the last time a Hispanic woman was screaming her ass off, but decided to not use violence this time) Todd finally told her to shut her boca. Frightened, Paloma shut up and started to cry and mumble to herself “el bebé no es muerto” over and over again. A stunned Blair stared at Todd and asked him if he knew what Paloma was trying to tell her.

After months of lying, Todd decided that the time had come to tell Blair about his “dastardly deed.” He took Blair to the side and told her that there was something that she needed to know, but first he had to get Paloma on a plane and back to Mexico. Todd summoned his chauffeur, Gabby, and gave her strict instructions not to leave the airport until she saw Ms. Sanchez’s plane take off.

Starr and Jack were at their Aunt Vicki’s house, since he and Blair had decided to take a two-week honeymoon after they had had some time to bond with Jack. They spent these two weeks christening every room in the mansion (except the kids’ of course). Now that it was just the two of them in the house, Todd took a deep breath and prepared to have his world shattered.

Blair was still standing in the foyer, stunned by Paloma’s outburst and Todd losing his temper. She wondered what was so important that Todd had to send poor Paloma all the way back to Mexico. Seeing the woman again did dredge up a lot of painful memories, but Blair had hoped that she would be able to give her any information about her son’s short life. Blair snapped out of her daze and finally demanded that Todd tell her what THAT was all about.

Todd took her hand, just as he had done that joyous night when she had shot Maxhole in the back, and he led her into the living room. Not letting go of her hand, he pulled her down on the couch with him and they sat face to face. Blair was becoming increasingly impatient. She said, “what is this all about Todd? Why did you speak to Paloma that way and why did you send her back to Mexico?” (Todd flashed back to telling Paloma “Get rid of it, just get rid of it”).

He knew that no matter what, he had to tell Blair truth. He owed it to her and he would have to deal with the consequences. After staring at Blair for a few minutes, as though memorizing every inch of the face that he knew there was a good chance he might never see again, Todd started to tell Blair the truth.

“Blair, you know that baby that I told you died in Mexico?” She replied with annoyance, “Yes, Todd, of course, our son.” “Well Blair, as it turns out, that baby DIDN’T die in Mexico.” Blair was not amused.
