I have to remind myself sometimes that I'm not really that mechanically inclined. I know how stuff is done, it's just that when I try and do some of it myself....Things tend take an ugly turn.

I'll do anything electrical no problem, and I'm not really a bad carpenter (I've actually made some furniture) But I've come to learn I have some serious limitations.

One thing I don't do is plumbing! I'll try and snake the occasional drain, but never touch anything under pressure. I know that one false move and I could flood the place (which with my luck is exactly what would happen I'm sure). The only thing I need to know about the water system is where the main shut-off is. That's enough for me, the rest I leave for the professionals. It's easier and less embarassing to just pay them to fix things in the first place than to explain how I was going to fix it myself and then messed it all up. I think they charge me double if I've tried to fix things first and then called them to repair what I've fixed...but I'm not sure. I also hate when they laugh at me and snicker to themselves about what I've done.
