While I never "knew" him I did meet him back in the olden days while he worked at WNEW. He was very nice and pleasant. As you said, he helped mold the musical tastes of a generation. Of course that was back when a DJ actually had a choice in what they played, nowadays it's all programed by a suit and they must do as they are told.

And the seasons turn....
