I have been asking Deet about the seismic activities out there only to find that my old childhood playmate Holcombe is much closer in Portland. Here is his report from today:

-----------------------------------------------------

Mt. Hood is becoming more active. Scientists are meeting in an hour to
discuss the latest info. It seems that a major pyroclastic flow is in
the making. Steam geysers are constant, and ash plume is visable from
satellite.

Portland is, by air, only 35miles from Mt. Hell, and Mt. Hood has had 65
earthquakes in the last 5 days.

Ash plumes are away from Portland due to wind patterns for over the
next 24 hours.

-----------------------------------------------------

now Dietra said that the last time Mt St Helens went off that the streets of Seattle were covered with a white powdery ash but this time people seemed to be low keying the events
