Subject: A "Frankenkid"

Mrs Sammy took Kathryn to some store in Woodbridge Center that sells only Holloween stuff (how they expect to survive I'll never know). Anyway, they purchased a prothisis type head-top, neck bolts and all the other stuff that goes with it. I'll tell you it is hysterical to see, I laughed so hard when she tried it on I though I was going to pass out. She was a perfect "Frankenkid" (and I don't me Al, although that would be equally funny and frightful) On Holloween when she gets all decked out with the final makeup it will be spectular.

We have to figure some way to torture the kids as the come up the walk. It's sort of a family tradition. Our favorite was a horn that goes off when the little visitors come up the walk and step on a strategically placed mat. (Scares the beegeebers out of em') The severed head in the bucket of blood is always a crowd pleaser too. Perhaps this year I'll get some nice entrails to augment the scene.

As you can tell we Sammy's are a bit bizarre, but Holloween is a "special" holiday. heh heh heh!

It took me years but I have finally discovered that no matter how much you spend on doing things around the house, there's always something else that needs doing. I too went through the basement waterproofing thing. I decided the best thing to do was to stop it before the moisture got in. I had big trenches dug around the whole foundation and put in perforated pipe and also channeled all the gutter/leaders away. The basement is bone dry now even when we have those soakers. It used to be that if someone spit on the lawn we'd get water.

You're right about Mom, she is a grand lady. She's 80 and looks late 60's. It's difficult to see her slowing down so much. She's been fighting cancer for six years now and until recently when her heart started acting up she was doing really good. But that weakend her and she had to do rehab and work like hell to regain her strength. I try and get her out as much as possible. Lately I've been taking her to do her xmas shopping during the week so she can have it all done before the crowds move in. Being around her Grandchildren is very good for her too.

It's wonderful that Gumdrop has a musical ear. Music is something that she'll have and hold dear throughout her entire life. I'm so happy for her, it's such a magnificent gift to have.
