God bless her! I admire someone who's that creative and active. If I tried to make soap I'd flood the house with goo.

I think if anyone is to blame for this Vioxx fiasco, it's Merck. Apparently they knew several years ago there were potential problems with the medication, but they didn't do anything about it. I guess it got to the point where the studies showed they had better pull it, or their liability was going to go up tremendously. I used to have respect for that company -- now I'm not so sure. The people who will suffer are those who used the medicine with faith in the company, and the rank-and-file Merck employees who may lose their jobs because now they will lose money.

What is your little one going to be for Halloween? Gumdrop is going to be a devil -- typecasting, I guess you'd call it. (Ah, not really. She's a grate kid.) Yes, we've been in the house four years now. We really love it, although I miss the wonderful Italian restaurants in Trenton. I do like cities; we just can't send our kid to school there. Gumdrop has made a lot of wonderful friends, and I really love the location. We made a good choice, even if we have had to replace the well pump and now have to waterproof the basement. Oh well. What are houses but black holes to pour your money into????

Gumdrop has been taking violin lessons for about a year now. Sometimes she's more receptive to it than others, but on the whole she's doing quite well. I like this choice of instrument for her because it really is developing her ear for music. I knew we were getting somewhere when we were listening to "The Nutcracker" soundtrack last Christmastime, and she said, "Mom, I can really hear the violins in this music!"

I will keep your mom in my prayers. She sounds like an amazing woman, and a real sweetheart. And you are such a grate son!
