Subject: I've got shpilkes!

Yes, I've been diagnosed! Although the official term is "gallstones." I'm scheduled to go under the knife tomorrow (Thursday) for laparascopic cholycystectomy. I hope you're all impressed with how well I throw around the medical terminology. It just means I'm having my gall bladder removed, and it's much quicker than the surgery they used to do. (And much less invasive.)

I'm sorry I haven't been around here. It's been a tough month. I'm not really in much pain, fortunately, but I've been pretty uncomfortable sometimes. I had to travel early in October, before I was diagnosed, and that was a little scary -- I went to Idaho not knowing exactly what was wrong. (I just hoped it was nothing that would send me to a hospital in a state I believed was full of neo-Nazis and white supremacists. Actually, it's a beautiful place.) At the same time, a beloved colleague at work passed away. He was diagnosed with cancer in June, and he died on Oct. 2. It shook me up very badly -- he was a good buddy. (Damned #$*&^ cigarettes. If only he had never smoked...) And November has just been a hectic month.

I hope you are all doing well. Lots of love to all of you. I'll be back after my nose job, um, gall bladder removal.
