That was very kind of you to say.

It's my Mother whose been sick with cancer now for five years, as if that weren't enough she's had two heart attacks in the last three months. Her breathing is getting difficult now and is on oxygen 24/7. As she says, "getting old isn't easy".

She lives here in an apartment that we had built for her years back and Mrs Sammy and I have been seeing to her needs. My sisters come stay and pitch in when they can also. It helps having a sister who's an RN too. We want her to be as comfortable as possible. I think being around her grandchildren has had a great effect on her.

But like anything we never know when there's going to be another crisis, so any plans I make have to be contingent on her health (I always make that clear). It's very important for me not to waste any quality time I might have left with her. You know how it is with sons and their Moms. No matter how hard we may try those apron strings are always attached to our hearts. Little boys run to Momma and little girls run to Daddy, that's just the way it is.
