I first met him back in 1980. I worked a show for him at the Sunrise Performing Arts Center in Sunrise Florida. The Center had a bar in it (typical Florida) and after the show we got loaded together. We all drank much too much back then. Just a bunch of miserable bastards travelin' with the circus, we used to say.

He recorded a televison special while he was sick (for "The Wind" the CD you speak of). They had sent me a copy of the tape awhile ago and I've tried to watch it several times and I fall apart each time and have to shut it off. The program was just re-broadcast on TV today, I couldn't even look at him. Someday maybe I'll be able to watch it, but not yet.

He's been cremated and the family is having a private service then they're scattering his ashes over the pacific ocean.

He was another of those "One In A Million" persons.
