Do any of the OCU people on the board know why they just put a 6 foot chain link fence around Fredrickson?

Just a guess, but the inside beams have been collapsing and they are going to have to do major repair to keep the world's first hyperbolic parabola from falling down.

They're lucky no one got hurt when the girder fell onto the court earlier this fall.

Since the school will never spend the money to repair the place properly, they probably should just tear it down.

Parabola is a word I haven't used, or even thought of, since high school calculus class. Thanks for the memories!

I'd hate to see Frederickson go as well. I spent many a hot night in that gym watching some great players and games. I saw Greg Sutton go for 68 and Eric Manuel go for 40 -- in the same game. It's a great shooter's gym -- even I have been known to hit a trey or three during pickup games there.

Hopefully OCU will do what SNU, OC and OBU have done and maintain their old gyms so that students and alumni can use them. Plus, I'd imagine having an extra gym, even an old one, would be great for stuff like camps.

OBU is tearing down Clark Craig to make room for a new athletic facility.

Tear down the gym in which Al Tucker starred? What can the powers that be at OBU be thinking?

Of course, the last time I was in Clark Craig, I remember the court being warped because of water damage, or something like that. It was in pretty bad shape.

But seriously -- for schools our size, heritage should be important. And Clark Craig is a piece, an important piece, of that heritage at OBU. It's too bad that a piece of that heritage will disappear.

That's why I'm glad "the Barn," as we call it at OC, still is a working facility. It's not like it was during its glory days, but it's still usable and frequently used. Much like Broadhurst is at SNU. I hope OCU finds a way to get Frederickson repaired and back in working order.
