Translation/Summary of Ming Ming's summary of [Love & Rain] episode 1-2

Episode ONe

The first episode gave a generalization of the background and the relationships between the characters. YiPing ( Wei Wei's role) merely appeared near the end for few minuetes. Her appearance gave people the feeling of a pure and thoughtful girl with stumbles in life and misfortunes. It was scene of a stormy night with strong wind, rain, YiPing had a broken embrella. There were water ditches and as the cars and buses flew by without any feeling. In all, YiPing's first couple scenes had endless misfortunes and sad events!

Episode Two

This is an episode that Wei's fan should pay attention to, because most of the show focused on YiPing ( it is also the same point that the TV rating suddenly surges on the day of the premier). In this episode, YiPing goes through twists and turns in emotional development. She entered the luxrious house of "the other side". Facing her dad and stepmother, and her half-sisters & brothers' belittlement, she had nothing to say. Facing RuPing (played by Ruby Lin), who treated her with warmth and sweetness, YiPing returned with coldness and solitude. Upon hearing her half-sisters & brothers' arguement over which toys to buy and seeing RuPing's excitment of showing her expensive jewels that would cost a month of her salary, she seemed perplexed and doubted, and probably some feeling of being hur! FInally, YiPIng bravely asked about an increase in their livving cost to the solitary father(beacsue they're in debt for rent
). Similarly, YiPing's eyes showed a stream of doubt and perplexity, along with some sense of fustration and feeling of unfairness. Her father's usual conservative and strict concept and YiPing's insistence on her pride and self-esteem finally exploded into a scene of arguement. YiPing, seeing her angry father holding the leather belt, while her insecurity and a bit of fright can be seen in her eyes, she still said to her father:"You have never taught me, thus you do not have the right to hit me! At this point, she could of ran and left this place with pride and prevented the physical torture of being hit, yet she didn't. Her purity at the bottom of her heart or maybe she never thought or beleived that her father would actrually hit her, or maybe her emotions has been completely overwhelmed,made her stood there while the belt fell on her body, pircing through her cloth, her skin. She tried to get away yet helplessly looked at the "people at the side", her "family", that watched her. The pains on her skin brought pains in her heart. She lacked strength to resist and did not want to reist. When her father finally was shocked by YiPing's silent tears and her gaze that was filled with hatred, he softened and gave the living cost that YiPing requested. Yet YiPing through the money into the sky and conveyed her hatred to this family with deterination. In this secene, the trail fo YiPing's tears on her face is still not dry yet yet her eyes looked sharp as a knife. The burning heat of her pain made her loose her reason yet allowed her to leave this "home", with an injured but more straighter back and a deeper wound in the heart than outside. Thus, YiPing ran toward the outside world, a world of drizzly rain and fog. The next scene is extremely important in the old and new version, that is the scene that YiPing walks along in the drizzly rain. WeiWei's performance showed the love, hate, emotion, and fustration of a nineteen year old girl. This emotions are not even understood by YiPing herself. In side of hatred, hid the love for her blood related father, yet inside this love knited loneliness and fustration. Maybe through this scene, audiences realize how YiPing is struggling between herself and reality.

Later, it is the scene that YiPing and ShuChen(Leo's character) meets. The meeting of YiPing, with her helplessness and sorry appearance and ShuChen, with his openess and rightousness, forever brought YiPing into ShuChen's world. YiPing's complex family background and life brought curiosity to ShuCehn. Similarly, YiPing's coldness and animosity brought even more perplexity to ShuChen. Their meeting ended when YiPing discovered that ShuChen is Lu family(her dad's family)'s friend,and with anger, she left. This sought a seed in the hear tof ShuChen. When YiPing returns home an cried with pain in the arms of her mother, YiPing suddenly became a pure and grivance little girl. Afte she wiped her tears, YiPing must again show her strength and optimism in front of her mother. Her smile is brought back as she actively searched for a job. With loads of burden from living and from economic problems, she accidentally went into ShangHai's Night Ball Room. IN front of the influential man of ShangHai--Qing Wu Ye, she sang a song with confidence...
