Apollo galloped out, my hands were matted in his mane. Dropping the ball we began. Dodging around my makeshift barriers we neared the goal. With a huge hit it flew through.

GOAL

I remade the course and we went back, Apollo snorted as the second round began.

The trucks wheels skidded to a hault. We were at the beach! After long hours of continuous driving, we were here! I quickly got Reno and Honey from the trailer. I took off their shipping clothes and hooked lead ropes to their halters. After 20 minutes or so of loosining up, I thought they were bored, so I decided to start out on beach ride. I tacked Honey up in my synthetic english tack and hooked a connector from her bridle to Reno's halter, so I can take them both out. Then I hurried into the trailer for my tack box and pull out an old, worn saddle bag. I stuff an emergency kit, for both horse and human, some carrots, a lead rope and my trusty whistle. I attatched the package and tightened the girth. I mounted up and signaled Honey into a walk, Reno also started walking. I was just going in circles for a few minutes, then turned to see Mae, Meg and Ciara by the trailer, wrapping the shipping boots of their horses back into a neat roll. Dazzle was ground tied and very anxious. He kept side stepping as to say "I am finally on vacation!" Greenlea was close to Ciara. She bumped her head against Ciara's shoulder as if to say "Watcha doin'??" Mae was folding up Spirit's shipping blanket and Spirit was all excited. He reared and snorted and it was like I could hear his thought of "Come on, come on, I have been waiting for this all year!!" I trot over to the gang. "Hey guys," I say excitedly, "Ya wanna tack up and head out for a ride in the surf??" I wait anxiously for a reply....

Moon liked to limit her talents to strictly jumping so I decided that we should broaden her horizons and practice a game of polo. The polo field had only been used a few times since it had put in so that was yet another good excuse to take Moon out there. I could feel her apprehention as we headed past the indoor arena towards the polo field. Who knows, maybe if me and Moon had a good time out there we would start a trend! With one hand holding her reins I bent down and pulled a mallet and a ball out of a canvas bag hanging beside the gate. Moon eyed them warily but soon began to get excited as she noticed the huge expanse of bright green lawn laid out before her. Billy, my baby bearded collie was out in the middle of the field bounding around and playing with a wooden polo ball he had stollen from the canvas bag. With a smile on my face I sighed and mounted Moon, landing softly in my old worn out english saddle. Once I had gotten situated I sent Moon out onto the field at a trot, her stuning blue wraps glowing against her white coat. Billy, startled by the massive white monster moving towards him, began whimpering and running towars the gate. I reined in Moon and called softly to him. At the sound of my voice he stopped right in his tracks and began wagging his stubby little tail. "Go on back to the barn little Billy before you get yourself into any trouble." With that he turned around and began bounding happily back to the barn. Moon was starting to look quite bored so I spun her around, tapped the ball, and squeezed her into a speedy canter. She bolted....... spooked and attempted to run from the ball. Not what I was expecting:-P So as soon as I gained control and calmed her down we walked back to the ball and tried again. She hesitated at first but broke out into a canter and ran straight towards the ball. As we came up beside the ball I swung and smacked it as hard as I possibly could. The ball flew right into the goal. I threw my arms up in the air and yelled "Yeeeehahh!!". Just then my friend Morgan came riding up on her protrained polo horse, Rocky, and all decked out in polo gear. Now this was going to be fun! She cantered onto the field and we imediately began playing. Me and Moon only mamnaged to snatch the ball twice and make one goal but we did a lot of giggling. In the end Morgan won, the final score being 9 to 1. Like good sportswomen we shook hands..... and then burst out laughing! In fact we laughed all the way back to the barn, where both Moon and Rocky got warm bubble baths and a handful of carrots.

I had a few of my friends come out today and we played a good game of polo. I rode Magic, and I let my 3 friends (Vicky, Anne, Maddy) ride Irish, Greenlea and Spirit! It was lots of fun!!
