My daughter who is 2 will be entering the Sunburst State pageant in May and I am very confused as to what type or style of dress she should wear. I got her a pink dress with a satin bodice, and a tulle skirt, some butterfly embellishments and I am adding some random sequins to the skirt here and there for a little shine. Is this glitzy enough for this pageant? The dress is floor length and she looks adorable in it, but I dont want to go in with her looking ready for a wedding rather than a pagaent! I was under the impression that the really expesnive glitzy dresses were for the national pageants, not this state one. But now I am not so sure. I am in Michigan btw.

Also, she has really long hair...past her shoulders. It is not curly, what should I do with it?

Any advice welcome!!! :)
Shannon

From participating in Sunburst in the past I have seen girls with glitzy dresses to more prelim type dresses win. What you have discirbed sounds beautiful. Personally I would put your daughter in a short dress IMHO. With her hair being long curl and do an updo on her. If you would like to have it done by a H/M person they will let you know what they want you to do. Good Luck and Best Wishes.

Hello,

My daughter is 14 months old and also will be doing our state (MD) SunBurst pageant. I am very excited about this competition because it will be our first state event and our third pageant.

If any one have any suggestions on where I could find really nice (glamorous yet simple) clothes for a infant please let me know.

Also if anyone has any tips on doing well in the SunBurst system also please feel free to share these ideas.

I was told ebay seller ID oreoz has nice prelim type dresses for a reasonable price. You can also buy more glitz type dresses on Ebay, I just bought my daughters newest dress there and paid about 1/3 of what the owner paid for it.

I did email her and she said we will see all types of dresses at the State Pageant. Now I am worried! I had my daughters 2 year pictures taken in her dress last Thursday and it looks SO pretty on her, but is by far not a Southern Glitz dress. The state director said that the dress should fit well and be age appropriate.I have seen some shocking dresses for size 2T that I would never put my daughter in! I want her to look 2, but I also dont want her to look underdressed.

comfortable with and see how it goes. After this pageant you will know more what to expect and what you want to do, as far as clothing, makeup etc. My daughter is almost 15 months and we do a lot of full glitz pageants and I put a hair piece on her and light make up, we also use retouched pictures. I'm going to start using a little more makeup and try some of the self tanner. She has won queen at almost every pageant we have done, 2 pageants I know she beat out the other children because of having a hair piece. Some people absolutely refuse to put make up and hair pieces on their children and if you don't feel comfortable doing it then don't. We only do 1-2 pageants a month and they are at the most 5 hours long so I feel that for 5-10 hours a month it's not going to hurt my child to wear makeup, fake hair or tanner. I don't know how the pageants are in your area, but here even preliminaries have full blown hair and makeup, tans and full southern glitz clothing. I feel like if I'm going to comptete I want my child to be on the same level as what is expected.

Hi. We're doing the State Pageant in May in Charlotte. My daughter is in the 0-15 months age group, and my friends daughter is in the same group. We both purchased ours off of ebay b/c of the price. Mine has been worn by 2 different people & both have won best dressed. It's glitz, but not overdone like some i've seen. We're stopping at age 2 or 3 b/c of the moms. I was raised in the pageant world and watched my sister till she was 5. I did pageants till i was in high school and now my sister,16, is doing pageants again. however, i refuse to make my child look like a teenager. i am doing it for fun, not to live some dream through my child. pageants should be fun, and if they're not anymore, you should stop. they're just kids after all!
