For casual wear, think modern prep. No school uniform, but cutesy skirt-and-sweater look. That's my favorite, at least.

Thank you for all your help....I bought her a "holly hobby" type dress with a straw hat with matching ribbon...of course I think that it is adorable, but I read where someone said "no hats"....your thoughts?

Most moms don't like hats because they mess up the hair. I think they can be cute if they are used the right way. Make sure you are ready to go against the grain in your first pageants. I'm not trying to discourage you from the hat, but the judges will either love the originality or hate the non-conformity.
