I have never obtained sponsors for my child and it has never hurt her chances for a title. She has won state titles for Cover Miss, Sunburst, etc. and has never had an ad page. Most pageants like for you to do it because it makes more money for them and most will allow some fees off if you sell a certain amount but you might as well get used to paying for pageants yourself because very, very few businesses are going to sponsor you unless it is a bridal shop or jewelry store in a hometown "little miss" pageant.

I have to disgree with you. I have always been very able to get sponsors not only for myself but for all my children as well. I also compete and have never (except for the first) paid out of pocket for any fees, dresses, accessories,h/m,shoes. I get it all paid for by a sponsor, who might I add are very excited when I return with the title. ( I have 9) So it's not impossible, I guess you have to be a people person. But anyone can do it. I get pictures of my kids, some of them entry photos, and I create a sponsor letter on my computer and walk around to local businesses and get their fees taken care of. The thing to do is know what you will need to attend this pageant. Example: my daughter needs her entire entry fee, photo retouch, dress material ( I make all their pageant clothing), shoes, fall, make-up,socks, sportswear material, talent material, any music or special adsditions. I add it up and present that to my "potential sponsors" as my pageant fee. I then create a nice portfolio with the pageant entry form included for her to carry around and present it to her sponsors. (I go with her of course) They are very impressed and pleased that she came and is nicely dressed in interview wear or Sunday best and her hair is done with very little make-up.
She has been doing this for 3 years now and recently started winning her titles. If I can do it and my kids can do it, I know that anybody can. Just takes patience and class. (smile) Thanks for letting me share
