Once again, pretty much all I can say is that it's sooo cool how alike we are...lol. Btw, I posted another reply to our thread below.
About the date of the movie, I actually always assumed it took place in at least 2001 because of the Missy Elliott song...lol. =) But I don't know, cuz of the four years later thing at the end. (Which I currently refuse to watch *sniff sniff*)
Oh, and about my time zone, I'm actually Central Standard Time. =) lol, it's ok about the time zones, it took me awhile to get them sorted out too, hehe. And don't try to ask *me* about stuff we learned way back at the beginning of the year either. lol.

[> [> Well I read on some site online for AWTR that it took place in that time period... but you know there are all kinds of quirks with when the music came out and all, like, I know that some of the things did not come out until just recently and that was back aways. Some people just enjoy pointing these things out, LOL. -- KatieS (fearfully preparing to take finals next week, scared because she *can't* remember anything from the beginning of the year!! Oh well, at least I don't have to take my social studies final!!), 21:32:37 05/28/03 Wed

Finals!! I'm scared to take those. Luckily I won't have to for a little while. I wish you luck on yours though! =)
And back to the date of the movie thing... for some reason, I just like to think of the whole thing taking place in 2001/2002 or something because to me, 01-03 have been good years, with the exception of tragedies like 9/11 and the Columbia space shuttle event. But I dunno... I'm weird. =p

[> [> [> See... for me... all the years before 01-03 were good, I mean, aspects. It's really confusing, I'll go inside (click here) -- KatieS (do you get the whole "inside" concept yet? Most people it takes forever), 23:18:17 05/29/03 Thu

2000 was a bad year for me because on January 26, my grandmother who I was really close to died... :( I was soo sad for months.
Then on May 16, I passed out in music class and fractured my skull, I had to spend a day in the hospital and see a neurologist and get these AWFUL tests done... they attatched 33 wires to my head and said they were going to read my brainwaves, and then said "sleep". HaHaHa! YEAH RIGHT!

2001 was an upsetting year for me because on June 13, my parents told us that they were splitting up. Oh, how absolutely great - not. It kind of ruined my life.
Then of course there was 9/11, and I think you know what that was.
2002, however, wasn't so bad. I have had the greatest eighth grade year with the exception of one time, at the very end of January (the 29 I think) my great grandmother died... she was 96 or 97. I was okay much more quickly after that than the other one because my grandfather did the service at her funeral and it was very comforting.

I sound like I'm complaining too much!! Sorry! I sometimes have issues with complaining, I'll stop now! I will say though, 02-03 has been wonderful for me because of the eighth grade - I got 3 academic awards last night :) and my teachers and parents were all proud of me, I felt so loved!!!!
Talk to you later!!

[> [> [> [> My reply inside... (yup, I caught on to the whole "inside" thing right off...lol) -- *Claire*, 20:01:46 05/31/03 Sat

Oh...I can see that 00-03 haven't been the best years for you. I'm sorry about your losses and your parents splitting up. I can't say I know how either one of those feels, but I'm still very sorry, because I definitely have an idea of how they do.
And no, you're not complaining too much. If you think you've got complaining issues you haven't met some of the people I know. lol. And I *definitely* have the same problem too sometimes.
I have to say that some of 2001-2002 wasn't the best for me either. During 6th grade (which was during that time) I was having some friend issues. My best friend and I weren't talking.... I assumed she was mad at me because she was hanging out with another group, but I later found out that she thought I was mad at her too, lol. I guess we were both just confused as who our friends were, because it was a new school and everything and just really different. But still, it was hard for me. The summer of '02 was good though, and 7th grade was good friend-wise (I found the group of friends that I fit right in with, am totally comfortable with and just really like, which also includes my best friend), but grade-wise it was a little bit worse. My grade average dropped a little. For the first time I was not constantly on honor roll. Luckily my final marks for the year were good - A's, B's and C's *cringe* but my parents were still okay with them because for the most part it was all above average. I was still really disappointed a lot of times with my grades because in 6th grade, I was a really good student with the good grades to prove it and at times last year I felt like I wasn't as smart anymore. It's not like my grades slipped drastically or anything, but they definitely slipped. But anyway, my final marks are good enough and I know I can work harder next year. Anyway, the whole point is, I've had some slightly hard times during '01, '02, '03 but it could have been worse, so overall those years have been considerably good for me. Oh, and by the way, congrats on your academic awards!

I definitely know how the friend issues thing is. For three months of my life in fourth grade, I had absolutely no friends. It was a really terrible time for me... I'd go into more detail, but I have lurkers and I don't want everyone in the world reading that, LOL. We got past it though. I am having some friend issues right now, but nothing I can't handle. Just that my friends are driving me *insane* LOL. They think my obsessions are dumb.

As for your grades - A's, B's, and C's isn't bad... that's still honor roll in my school. This year, so far, I've had *excellent* grades, better than ever before, because I've loved my classes and teachers so much - school was the most important thing in my life. That would be my obsessive personality. LOL. In sixth grade, I had A's and B's all year, but my Social Studies teacher then (who was a complete JERK!) gave me an F because I didn't turn in ONE assignment - it was the only one he gave us in three weeks that counted for a grade (don't worry, like four hundred that didn't were the ones I did). I was almost done with the stupid and incredibly hard project and turned it in the next day, but he gave me an F anyways! I hated him for it. I cried all day. Anyways... just because your grades slip a little doesn't mean you're stupid! I know that the grades get much harder. Sixth grade was simple for me compared to seventh, and I had alot of trouble with seventh grade, gradewise, thank God for homework passes, LOL. Then eighth grade was impossible, considering that they placed me in algebra, which is impossible. I can remember crying over my algebra several times. I think everyone goes through it, so you're not alone. *Hugs*

Anyways, forgive me for writing like a 4-billion word essay, LOL.

[> [> [> [> [> [> Well....you know the deal...my reply inside =) -- Claire, 12:26:57 06/03/03 Tue

First off, the fourth grade thing. I can relate! I had friends (there weren't room for many, though, seeing as there were 2 classes with about 30 some, maybe 40 kids total, and a majority of those kids were the prep group which I never liked except for a few of them, and the rest...I only had a couple friends who were non-preps) but I also had a really terrible "friend" who was soo mean. She basically tried to control me. She was in this state of mind where she thought she was the most popular girl in school or something (I swear that's what she referred to herself as at least once...heh, NO) and she would call me and try to give me tips or whatever on being popular. Um, sure. She would tell me what kinds of things to wear and how to do my hair and everything! It was terrible. As bad as this sounds, I actually listened to her sometimes, afraid that she would get all mad and turn everyone against me if I didn't. I know now that she didn't have that kind of power (she wasn't as popular as she thought she was because everyone, even the group she hung out with, rather, forced herself on, thought she was a snob...that would be the prep group, although like I said, many were nice but only a few were my friends). So anyway, yeah, that year pretty much sucked. lol. In 5th grade I broke away from her. I started hanging out with the girl who is now my best friend and another girl who is now living in SD, and we were perfectly content as friends. I had other friends too but the main people I hung out with were my 2 best friends. I remember that at the beginning of that year, she was talking to me on the playground one day, and she was actually being nice. I think she realized for the first time that I was *not* under her control anymore and I was totally my own person now. Anyway, it was cool because I felt for the first time like I had control over what I wanted to say to her and I said it. I don't remember exactly what I said but as she talked (basically something about how she would call me over the summer and give me more of those stupid, uh, "popular tips"...what did she call it?...oh yes, "popular training"...haha, laugh if you feel the need, because that's what I want to do when I think about it today!), I would use almost comeback-like responses if that makes any sense, and at times I would actually use the tone of voice like she was wasting my time. Haha, it was an awesome feeling. I remember her saying something about how she stopped doing the "training" (which was a bunch of bull and never got us anywhere) because she didn't think I liked it anymore. So I said, "No, I never did." That was one of the best moments in the history of me knowing her. hehe. Then for the rest of the year we didn't talk as much but when we did, she made sure to be nice to me. hehe.
So ANYWAY!! Now that you've read *my* 4 billion word essay on just one topic, I'll continue on to another one. School. I'm with you on the social studies thing. Sixth grade S.S. was good for me, but 7th grade wasn't as good. I had a bad teacher who is really old, like 60 something, can barely hear and NEEDS to retire. (Luckily he is after next yr.) I got B's and C's in his class this year. Aaaargh!! Oh well. No more of him. =)
Thank you for being so supportive and nice to me, Katie. I really feel like I've gained a new friend in you now. =) You take the time to read all my 9,034,345,394,454 word messages and respond to each one with more kind words...it's just really nice and I appreciate it. Hugs to you too. :D

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> Hi Claire :) inside :) -- KatieS, 19:03:48 06/03/03 Tue

I can totally relate to the whole thing with your friend controlling you! I have a friend exactly like that... even right now. I have learned to ignore it for the mement. She was one of the ones who acted like a #@*!$ in fourth grade. Now she's all obsessed with herself and boys, she emails all of the people on her buddy list every time whoever her current crush is says a word to her, and she's all preppy, when she never used to be. Her email addies are all like "hottsexybabe" or something like that that's completely self absorbed. I delete her emails unless they actually are addressed to me, not the "entire address book" group. It's so annoying. But currently I'm not doing bad except for what a few friends did to me in Washington DC at our field trip, but I'm pretty much over that. Its almost summer anyways.

Oh my gosh! LOLOL! You had an old 7th grade Social studies teacher too! We had this ancient woman who had to be about seventy, I swear she wore a wig and dentures too. LOL! I mean she was obsessed with talking to us like kindergardeners, If I hear "naaawwwww claaaasss....." one more time, I'm going to hurl. LOLOL! But this year, my social studies teacher is excellent, she is like 28 and she is the nicest person ever born into the world. (And if she heard me say that, she'd probably smack me, LOL!!)Yeah, today, one of my teachers got two of my friends out of our least favorite class (choir... the teacher is so gay that it isn't funny, not to mention his "assistant". I think they're in a relationship) just to sit up there and watch movies, LOL.

By the way, I don't mind reading and replying at all, as you know, my 4 billion word essays are just as lengthy. LOL. That, in my opinion, is what the internet is for! I am very happy that I finally have someone to talk to around this board, it can get VERY quiet!!
Talk to you later
Katie :)
