What do you do with your band...not practice and get chucked out of Hollydeffs. Tonight we is practicing 'til 11 pm cuz we can and we're 'ard. It's fuckin freezin in here though so I'll bring some food and we'll have the heater on full blast so it melts Sweed's kit and his icy cold heart of doom. HELLO to Lee, Gaz and Sweden. This is Joe, your singer, fellow band member and all round sinical bastard. I enjoyed practice on Sunday...it was great. I got to the unit at 2:30 thinking practice was at 2:00. Sorry I was late. Couldn't help it. We sounded better than we ever have..a very clean sound. Guess what I've got!!! A telephone. You know..one of those things that plugs into the wall. I understand Sweed not being able to use them...I saw the struggle he had at Lee's. But Lee is a phone expert and Gaz used to sell phones at Virgin...albeit mobile ones but the principal applies. I hope practice tonight is at least as good as sundays.

Why the hell did Solid pull the Assert gig? It would've rocked and all the hardcore crew would have been there. Then they stick us with some band called Cow-raper or puncher or something and no-one's ever heard of them. My money is that they'll be an Indie Band. I want to support this decision but you have to realise i'm in an awkward situation to do so. I'll do what I can but it just makes it a little difficult for me at work. I know it's your decision entirely but I just had to tell you what I thought. There's no such thing as a safe job in this area. There's so much change in industry it makes it very unstable financially. I have got plans too and I feel really optimistic for this coming year. Just think really hard about it...I know that you can't go back to Uni if you quit after Xmas. Quit before and it's OK but quit after and you're screwed. Just remember, nothing's certain and anything can happen. I've seen this and it can change your life so drasticly it's unreal. I just hope you're not making a snap decision...but if you feel as if you've thought about it seriously without thinking about Helen or us then I'll try to support it. It just means I get it in the neck here though. See you on Sunday and we can have a talk then....just bottle it up until the gig. I am.

Maybe u should realise just how bad ive been since ive been here; this is the 3rd time ive wanted to jack it in. Yes, the Helen factor has contributed, but its not just that. Im sick of working in Virgin here, i hate the town here, i hate the nightlife... hey joe, thanx for your advice but when did i tell u that i was leavin uni?????....i'm not, and the thing with gary is he waants to come home...plain and simple. It might seem like i'm pushing him, but i know how depressed he is here, basically his parents r spending a hell of alot of money for there son to be misserable, when he could come home and stil get a nice office job with his VERY GOOD a-level results, i want him to make his mind up b4 crimbo comes, thus saving him another terms worth of money. Aye...Hollydeffs is good. We showed Rrrrrock DJ Ants that we love him and we're worth staying in GY for. He does it all for us (and the fame and glory). I love Ants. OK guys, we've got PA but we'll only end up getting £25 or £30 quid from the gig. I know it's not as good as we thought but at first we weren't expecting anything so it's better than eating a wounded mule. We're to be there for sound check at 7:30pm and Sweed is giving me a lift (although he doesn't know it yet!) Errrmm.....that's it..let's knock em out. Jon had his problem with his ex-missus, Lee had some shit with birds, Person was palmed by Beckie, I was a fucking idiot cunt slag wench with a stupid whore and Sweed............er ............he had his shit too. This is the lowest i have ever felt---- Guy is not coming to our gigs, he knows what he has done. He exploited the thing that was most precious to me and then thought he could stay at my house. Its a good job he didnt come back when i was in, me and ANge would have kicked him out and more if necessary. As regareds to Helen, i am with her but she really has fucked me up big time; i could do with your help guys. Im sooo low at the moment, and it is getting worse. foxy can fuck off as well- i think ive just about had the most i can take in one year. Jon...REM are Indie Rock and Pink Floyd are Psychadelic Rock. REM are emo if you look at emo being short for emotional MUSIC. But they aren't emo with regards to Emo Punk and Emo-Core. OK..classification of music gets really rediculous but you have to use it because it makes it easy to explain bands that someone else hasn't heard. It's the way things are and no-one will change it. Before you all start going "well it's emotional wwaaaaa" and start crying...Emo is just a word that people used to describe that area of music and now that word has changed when used in that context. It no longer means general emotional music but now describes that certain sound..the genre of Emo. Like Metal no-longer means a hard material such as steel or iron. It now means Heavy Metal music. No more piss-poor comments about Indie Rock bands being Emo.GAAAAAAAAAY

hey who cares what kind of music you listen to? if you like it, you like it! wow there may be labels on what kind of music is what, but thats probably because people would ask you "what kind of music do you listen to?" then you would give them an idea of what it is. Yea theres stuff like: metal, hardcore metal ??, emo, emo core, punk (skate punk, pop punk, hardcore punk, etc), heavy metal ??, alternative, pop, ska, country, ECT. --you get the idea!! There's so many types of music out there you can experience listening to. If you think about it, emo = emotional right? ok then, if there's emotional stuff in something like HC metal..wouldn't you consider that emo stuff too? or is emo just something thats not so emo? or is it? is it just all oh poo stuff or sometimes happy? well you can find all that in punk, ska, metal, etc. nuff of the rambling..goto E.P. and sign the g/b

I think the issue of covers is a band one as a whole, not just us two. If ben and lee wanna do one, we do it, simple as that. Percy reckons the 100 reasons sound is close to us anyway; we have melody and we have the crunch (OCCASIONALLY).

Look at the hype they get; everyone wants a bit of em in their mag. I think theyve been goin for a very short time, and they have done very well for a uk band. Uk=no support from anyone, cos uk is bob!! Glassjaw, errtr, they are good, but post-hardcore aint the term for em. Dunno were they fit, i think thats another tuff en. 100 Reasons, just remeber that

And Gaz...At The Drive-In are being hyped to the bollocks and you know it. I've heard it said a couple of times that they're the most important band to come out of America since Nirvana. So..with that kind of shit surrounding them they're bound to become popular. Especially with Jo Whiley and Simon Mayo playing Roladex Propaganda just about every day on Radio 1. The new Kerrang interview is good. The guy said that he was amazed at how humble and almost ignorant of the hype they were. Very grounded aparently. And that's what matters. They'll never become pretensious wankers like messers Durst and Davis.

HEY..GlassJAw aren't nu-metal. Not even close. They're post-hardcore. Suprised you didn't pull em up on that Gaz. Neither are Deftones or Incubus really. I'm not sure what I'd put Incubus under. I mean, some of it's near enough rap-metal (which is a sub-category of nu-metal I guess) but if you listen to the new stuff it's not even close to nu-metal. Deftones? Never been sure about that. The first album was classified as post-hardcore. And Chino was into hardcore as a kid (probably into Inside-Out)..second album was excellent metal and the new album..well I reckon it's one of those revolutionary albums. And I never said that Hundred Reasons were crap...cuz I've heard one song and said it sounded boring. I'd happily listen to more of it with an objective ear. But I am not doing any cover songs. Full stop. Unless it's an absolutely amazing song..and then it's only if we do a cover of Her Middle Name Was Boom by GlassJAw.

Its probably only the Grimsby crew that make emo and hardcore popular for us it seems... elsewhere its not on such a grand scale... here in notts the scene is quite small, it has ye to be ruined. At The Drive In will not make it popular cos most people wont go and get a cd if it aint popular... good in a way, i like it to be a select few.
Real obscure emo and hardcore will never get big, which is ace.. id hate it if everyone was going on about deep elm stuff like they do Limp Bizkit. Listen to old metal, just cos it aint popular or in now doesnt mean it aint good!!! Faith No More beat the shit out of Disturbed, Korn etc. Iron Maiden rule!!! Get rid of yer nu metal shit people.
