Crafting question on roses?
At the last yard sale I attended, I happened upon a mega pack of petals, contents says 300 and I'd guess most of them are still in the box! Looks like all, cause I just broke the tape, trying to cop a feel! There are 2 types sheer and velvety in nature ... now here are my questions ..
!. Has anyone dipped these in melted soap?
2. Velvet or sheer?
3. Where can you get the soap?
4. What is the actual name (not brand name) that i should be searching for?
5. What does the finished product look like? Is it worth my time?
6. Have you tried washing your hands with the finished product?
Any other tidbits you can share would be most welcome!
Thanks Crafty Me2

Yes. I have dipped them but it was several years ago.
No; never tried the velvet ones.
Melt & Pour, I think was the soap we used.
They were fun to roll around in your hands then toss.
I think it would be fun to come up with some sort of kit with the soap-dipped petals. Too late in the day for me to be thinking. Travel kit? something to carry in the purse?

Oh Jaz,
Thanks for giving me such a wonderful start,
Any one else want to jump in and contribute a part?
I'd read an article and there they were ... waiting for me,
The price was certainly right ... they were... ALMOST free!

Here is a link to a recipe I found. Maybe it will help. Good luck sounds fun. I also have plenty of petals left from the wedding, maybe I should consider using them this way. HHHMMM Already thinking of gift baskets for next Christmas LOL God Bless DEBinOK

I went to a Tea Room awhile back and used their restroom and when I washed my hands they had this dish with silk flower petals in it that had scented soap that coated them. You used one petal to wash your hands, that was all you needed.

These are very easy to make. Just use melt and
pour soap you can buy at a craft type store.
You can melt this two way, in a double boiler or in themicrowave. Just be careful
to not let it get to hot. You may add a scent to the melted soap. Have wax paper laid out. Using tweezers dip the silk
flowers petals you have cut apart into the melted soap. Place on the wax paper to dry. That's it.
Deb,
Thanks for the site, here is what I found that whetted my interest! ;-) CM2

I bought the soap making pack of soap base at Michael's and melted according to instructions. I dismantled my artificial flower blooms and dipped them, then let them dry on wax paper...very easy. and pretty as you say displayed in a bowl.

Crafty Me2,
Be careful buying the rose petals. A while back, I bought some from the Dollar Tree and when I went to rinse them off with cold water, there was red dye everywhere!
Just a word of caution to do a "rinse test" first.
Hugs,
Lori Jean :o)

This is a great craft for a craft fair. They can be bottled up in old candle jars or placed in a pretty basket. Can one of our talented poets write a few lines to add to a tag to attach to the pretty petals. This would be a wonderful hostess gift. Thanks for sharing the idea.

Lori Jean,
Thanks for the info! Never would have thought to see if the colors would run! Have tried both the silk and velvet ones in hot water! Looks like I'm good to go! Need to scout for the soap making supplies... now! LOL ;-) CM2

This is the poem I am planning to use with my gifts (after they're made)! ;-) Crafty Me2
Disposable, floral petals for gently washing the hand,
Scenting the air with their fragrance, quite grand!
Place in an attractive container or creatively package for a gift...
Feminine and whimsical, they’re bound to produce a pleasant lift.

Made these and just bought bars of glycerin soap at the store and melted them down in a double boiler. Packaged them in small bags and used them as Christmas gifts. They were well received by all.
