I have not read the transcripts of the case and have not spoken with the detectives about the case. As such I don't know enough about the case to have an opinion about it. I do believe however, that if Ms. Brookbank, like any other person, believes they have been wrongly convicted of a crime they should do everything legally within their power to prove their innocence. I believe strongly in our criminal justice system but I recognize it is not perfect. For example, since the death penalty was reinstated about 20 years ago, there have been over 100 persons sentenced to die for crimes they ultimately have been proven not to have committed. Thank god they had the strength to fight to prove their innocence.

Thank you for voicing your concern.

It is troubling that you have not read the transcripts from the trial or talked with the detectives who investigated the case, but you have visited Ms. Brookbank at DOC and attend her supporter meetings. You are recognized on their website, and I quote from the website: "We appreciate Lou Hennessy's attending all our support group meetings..." and another quote "We appreciate Lou Hennesey attending the last support meeting and for his ideas, especially his input on the petition draft."

You have made an effort to learn one side of the story but have not made an effort to find out the WHOLE story. One has to wonder if you are just looking for votes. IF you are elected, will you continue to attend Ms. Brookbank's support meetings?

It seems there is more here than your answer to James Carow's post that someone convicted of a crime should do, "everything legally within their power to prove their innocence."

As I said earlier, I don't know the facts of the case and therefore do not have an opinion about guilt or innocence in this matter.

I also have no control over what is put on others websites.

You say you have no control over what they put on their website. this si true but if they put this information there without your consent or it went against your "political stance" then you would not be condoning it but asking that it be removed.

You have so blatently attend all their meetings and fight for "her rights" yet you never even botherd to read the transcripts or talked with the Detectives, this is scary. You Sir scare me very much for you appear to be one who can easily be bought and sold like a side of beef.

How can you claim to be unbiased when you will only listen to one side of the story...isn't it your job to listen to both and then and only then fight for what it right? Or is the deffinition of you offece changed form what I knew it to be?

I have not read the transcripts nor attended the trial therefore I have no opinion as to Ms. Brookbanks guilt or innocence. I recognize she has been convicted by a jury of her peers. However, I support her right to fight to prove her innocence as I do anyone who believes they have been wrongly convicted. That is the only support I provide Ms. Brookbank.

If you have a problem with that, you scare me. Remember over 100 people who have been condemned to death in this country have ultimately been exonerated of their capital crimes. Our criminal justice system is not perfect.

Once elected states attorney I will look at every case and make a judgement about which cases merit prosecution and which ones don't. That's what I get paid for.

I have not attended all the meetings for Ms. Brookbank. Yes I have attended a few, I have not been to one for a couple of months.

The definition of the State's attorneys office will change to include not only enforcing the law but with a strong prevention and education component as well. My ultimate objective is for us to live in a community free from crime and free from the fear of crime.
