I have a similar problem. KIA refailed to repair engine damage due to a broken timing belt because I did not have the belt changed at 60K miles (although it had been the KIA shop at 70K miles, and you would think KIA would say "Hey, your timing belt is due for a change." In fact, at the time KIA said my timing belt was fine, but now denies this). I had the repair done by my machanic (not KIA). Now the water pump has failed, and KIA says that car needs a new engine but will not replace it under warranty because the failed water pump may be due to what my mechanic did (makes no sense -- the head is upper engine, the water pump is lower engine; these are separate and unrelated problems). Please let me know how you do with your legal pursuit; I may need to do the same. DMc
