Jeff,One of the great things about working the polls for 7 years is, I was able to meet almost everyone in my neighborhood. It is surpising how many friends I made with that simple volunteer. The day was long and hard, but what a great benefit I gained.

I have lived here since 1972,knew most everyone because of having kids in school.Kids make friends, but so many had moved away, died, retired or moved into Retirement Centers.

Now,I know the younger people and they keep a close eye on me. Saturday night at 1.30 I awoke to find 2 Policemen standing in my bedroom door. Somehow, the garage door had not closed and I seldom lock the side door because in case of an emergency.A neighbor down the street had called them because they knew it was not like me to leave the door open.3 police cars with flashing lights and I am sure drawn guns.although I did not see one. You can bet I check that door before I go to bed now.:o)
