Hi Steve,

I think everyone are still struggling in the Divisional Meeting every Wednesday. Please don't care about the term "Facilitator", I think the point is the roles of the facilitor is not well defined by our Division. If the scope of duties of the facilitor can be listed clearly to everyone, the facilitor can have a guideline of how to conduct our Division Meeting. If the facilitator is really doing his/her job according to the scope of duties, no one can give him/her a punch! right?

What I have learnt from my previous working experience is that, a meeting should have a chair person who lead all the attendants to run the meeting smoothly according to the agenda. An agenda should be given to everyone who attend the meeting so that they know what subject is going to be discussed during the meeting. The aim of the meeting is to get a RESOLUTION of each discussed subject listed in the agenda, but should not an argument. But, of course, getting a resolution done might bring out lots of argument, therefore the supportings of arguments are the main criteria to make a resolution. Before the meeting is closed, the chair person should report to everyone what subjects have been resolved and what subjects have not yet been resolved, and decide what should be discussed in the next meeting's agenda.

If we all can really follow an agenda to run the meeting on every Wednesday, this week, the chair person should write down all the discussed topics on board before the meeting. The discussed topics can be, e.g. discuss the weekly report from each Work Group, discuss the difficulties of the sydicate groups when handling clients, discuss the organizational structure, culture, strategy and external environment of ONE interesting organization that we know each week, etc. Then we all can discuss each topics one by one. After the meeting, then we can select a work group to prepare the agenda for the next meeting.

If you think I say too much rubbish that create pollution, please put them into trash for environmental-friendly purpose. Thanks!

Phoebe
