Subject: What happened to our facilitators?

An interesting point that our student consultants brought up to me was how our div meeting has responded and acted towards the 4 facilitators we've had.....

Do you think the differences in reaction has been solely to the facilitators? or do you think (as I do) that it has been as much to do with the stage the group has been in?

What I mean is that maybe the div meeting has been more reluctant to continue with a 'democratic' style of facilitator as the mid semester has approached....

I know I was the least 'democratic' of the four, and maybe the groups reaction to me would have been less amicable had I done the role in week 2?

Gen. Hackett talkes about how a requirement to be led is an essential function of a leader/follower relationship. That you can only have a 'leader' when there is a need for that role; and that when the circumstances change concerning the group, and there is less need for concerted effort towards a common goal, the leadership needs diminish.....

I think that our div meeting is crying out for some sort of 'leader/s'...... mainly because, I feel, that unlike other subjects where the learning is not self directed, and where there already exists a 'leader' (lecturer/tutor), our Div meetings have no pre determined structure or leadership-- we do need to work as a group because fully 50% of each students mark in in part dependent on the Div meetings working efficiently to achieve the stated aim in the beginning of the study guide......
