Part 1
okay, so comic con. lots of fun this year. especially because I got to hang out with the one and only Tracie "Maukingbird" Mauk. so lets start at the beginning.
Part I of i dunno how many
Wed.
pulled an all nighter for what ever reason, just couldn't shut my d**n brain off. so I had to meet Tracie all slow and non-exciting. So get to the air port, her flight is delayed, for about 1 1/2 hours, but eventually she makes it, she spots me first. and our adventures began. I'm not exactly thhe most talkative of people, so I felt kinda bad for not being able to strike up a conversation, but she would have punched me in the face or something if it had bothered her. So we get home, I give her the grand tour. showed her my kitty, chilli, you know, same old same old.then we went back downstairs and I forced her to play FFX, but we didn't get very far, got distracted by something, but I'm stupid so I don't remember. I think it was because we were talking about cn sketches or something, so I ran and got my little book of stuff from last year and showed her, and she showed me hers, and also her portfolio and sketch book. and then we ate dinner, spagetti, and then we shuffled up stairs and showed my yearbook and all my crazy friends. To which I informered her of whom we might be running into and who'd actually be joining us on our trip through comic con weekend. and I also showed her all the crap I bought in Japan. Then it was off to bed, for we had a big fun day Thursday.
Thu.
Woke up semi early, at 7, got Tracie up at 8 to give her a little break. Called my friend Lauren to see if she was up and she had been up since 5 cause her alarm clock was set for that time previously, so she was all ready to go, she just had to eat. We didn't end up leaving til about 9, when we were suppose to show up and meet a friend at the con, but that was fine. When we got there, it was busy of course, comic and anime geeks galore! The line to register was a mile long of course, and Lauren had to go in it. we ended up getting separeted into 3 lines, Lauren in the registration line, Tracie trying to milk her Pro status in the pro line, and then me in the pre registered. I got in first, and went to our meeting place of the DC booth, always reliable in actually having a booth. So I looked around at it, and then I saw some people lining up, so I figured if I had to wait, might as well be in a line, and I could then get my first turtle sketch. ^_^ So I ask the people in front of me, "who's this line for?" and they said "Jim Lee" so I was like, score!! I had missed him all four days llast year, so this was definately a cool thing to start the con with. After i dunno how long, Tracie found me, she said she hadn't seen Lauren yet, so I told her she could just circle around cause I would be a while. So in the end, Jim Lee, really nice guy, got an awsome sketch from him, and the colorist of Batman, I don't know his name, he was there too, so I got it colored, which was awsome. So, I found Tracie and tried to figure out what to do. In the end we decided to go to the UDON booth quickley and then look for Lauren after. So i got Xavier's copy of Street Fighter #0 signed, and I got my self a sweet turtle sketch from Alvin Lee, the inker I believe for the comic. Tracie got Sakura. Then we stop by the booth next door, and met Steve Uy, he did what was it called, Eden something, I apologize for being an idiot. He was cool, Tracie got a sketch from him, I didn't ask cause I wasn't sure whether he'd do it or not, but later after we found Lauren i asked him and tired, but decided to just do a character from his new series, so that was cool, I got two from him. ^_^ so yeah we went back to the DC booth afterwards and found Lauren would had been walking up and down the ailes(?) for some time. I apologized and we were on our way.Trying to remember all the stuff we did. Well basically we were just scoping out all the booths, trying to remember ...gah, i don't think we went to any panels the first day...or did we? See, this is what lack of sleep does to me. I'll double check with Tracie to try and remember what we did. But anyway, I managed to get eight sketches the first day.
I'll just run down a list of what I bought and the sketches I got, and hopefully stuff will come back to me tomorrow, and hopefully I'll have sketches scanned up also.
