CLANG! The gate to the geldings paddock clattered down. Susan ran out of the barn lead rope in hand as the geldings thundered out. She looked at Laura and they headed to get the loose horses. When Laura whistled, JJ tossed his head and cantered right over to his owner. She smiled and jogged alongside him into his stall. She walked back out just as Susan got Montana and, with her business face on, put him in his stall. Between them, they hauled in the others. After the horses were all brought into the barn, fed, and watered, Susan and Laura headed up to the house. They both took showers and then sat down in the living room. �Laura, I need to talk to you.� Susan said. �About what?� the teenager asked. �About a lot of things, but let�s start with� well, I am not keeping Bet�� Susan replied. �WHAT? BUT�� Laura interrupted, her eyes flashing angrily. �You are.� Susan finished, while Laura looked amazed. �He�s a great horse and you ride him well. He has so much potential! Next, I am going to retire B-man from racing. I know what you are thinking. Why? But he does not want to run and he gets bored so easily! I am going to work with him on some ground poles and crossrails and see how he does.� Susan looked at Laura again to see the 17 y/o�s response. �I love Bet and owning him will be awesome but� B-man is so fast. I know that he won�t concentrate but still�� Laura replied. �I know how you feel. But he needs retraining. That�s all I needed to talk to you about. Are you okay with all that?� Susan said. Laura nodded and headed to her room, thinking about their conversation.
