Date Posted: 13:14:29 12/28/02 Sat Kelsey feeds Tori and grooms him while he eats. the stallion snorts happily and playfully grabs the brush out of her hand. Kelsey struggles to get it back. "Kelsey, can i talk to you for a minute?" Saddle asks. "Sure" Kelsey replies, quickly grabbing her grooming box and taking it out of Tori's stall. "Kelsey, i have you entered in Jennifer's show on both Tori and Fire N' Ice. I want you to ride Fire N' Ice today and if you get along with him, i will keep you entered on him. If not, i will let you try Man O' Heart. I want them both to be entered in the same class, so i need you to ride one of them." "Sure!" Kelsey replies excitedly. "Ok, come find me after your done with Tori" Saddle tells her. "Ok" Kelsey replies, going to the tack room to get a pitchfork and muck bucket. She cleans the stallion's stall, then tacks him up and leads him to the ring. The stallion had been settling into his new lifestyle very well and was very eager to learn. Kelsey mounts him and does several halt-walk-halt transitions to make her horse pay attention to her, then she starts doing circles and figure 8's at a walk, working on bending him properly. The big horse prances through the moves, breaking into a slow trot every few minutes, eager to work. After he is completely relaxed and eagerly stretching onto the bit at a walk, she asks him for a trot. He instantly becomes more excited and Kelsey calmly circles him and slowly works him back down onto the bit, Half halting him every few strides to keep him under control. After he is quieter at the trot, she does some trot-walk-trot transitions and he starts to come on the bit at the trot. After another 10 minutes of trotting and transitions, he is completely relaxed and stretching down onto the bit. Kelsey keeps him there for a few laps around the ring, then starts doing canter work with him. After awhile, he canter both leads without too much fussing. She praises him and lets him walk on a long rein for a few minutes, then does more trot and canter work before cooling him out, grooming him, blanketing him and turning him out. Then she goes to find Saddle. "Hey mom, i'm ready to try Fire N' Ice out now" She tells Saddle. Saddle and Kelsey groom and tack up the 3 year old stallion. He playfully nips at them and dances in the isle. "Hes feeling a bit frisky today" Saddle comment as she puts the saddle on him. She quickly puts the girth on, then pulls his legs forward before tightening the girth. Kelsey bridles him and leads him to the ring. Then she mounts and warms him up. The colt behaves beautifully for her and she easily puts him through his paces. After 25 minutes of riding, she dismounts. Then she and Saddle brush him off and blanket him, then turn him out. "i think that went well, what do you think, Kelsey" Saddle asks. "I agree" Kelsey replies. "Good, then you will be riding him in the first class of Jennifer's show" Saddle replies. "Thanks Mom!"
