Date Posted: 14:48:33 02/03/03 Mon *Kelsey mounts the thoroughbred stallion and warms him up. Then she does a 1st level dressage test with him. The stallion reaches into her hands and moves lightly, his long strides easily covering the ground of the dressage ring. Kelsey smiles, enjoying the nice weather and the warm sun. After finishing the test, she works on collections and extensions with him. He does the extensions perfectly, but snorts and bucks irritatedly at the collections. She does collections until they are easier for the stallion, then cools him out and brushes him down, then puts his lightweight sheet on and turns him out. Once Tori is done, Kelsey gets Legacy out of the paddock. The arabian was 18 months old now and she was coming along very well. Kelsey grooms her and gets out the lounging gear, then she lounges the bay filly. Legacy was very comfortable on the lounge and easy to work with. She had the potential to be the prefect kid's pony. Kelsey smiles as the pretty filly canters a circle around her, she had wonderful gaits for such a young horse. After 20 minutes of work, Kelsey cools her off, grooms her and untacks her then turns her out. Next she brings What I Got in from the paddock. The mare dances spiritedly all the way in and stands pawing on the crossties. "Knock it off" Kelsey warns her sternly. The mare instantly stops pawing and stands nicely. Kelsey tacks her up and takes her to the ring, then mounts and asks her to walk. She focuses on getting the mare round and on the bit. What I Got resists strongly and Kelsey keeps sponging the reins and driving the mare into her hands. Finally the bay mare gives in and comes on the bit. Kelsey walks several figure 8's, keeping the mare on the bit, then trots and canters her. What I Got still had trouble with her leads, but she was improving every ride. After a hard ride, Kelsey takes her on the trails to cool her out, then brings her to the barn and gets her ready to be turned out.* [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
