"Ok this is Altitude and she is one of my new mares." "Cool, she is beautiful!" Then she mounted up and i told her to ride around a bit and get used to Altitude. After about 10 minutes i told Kelsey to come over, "Ok Kelsey we are going to try a jumping course. Now if you dismount you can walk over the course." "Ok" she dismounted and walked the course. When she came back she looked a little worried. "That is a 4ft to 5ft course Shay! Are you sure i can jump that?" "Ya your ready. I wouldnt let you jump that high if i didnt think you could. Now mount back up." Kelsey nodded and remounted. Then she put Altitude into a canter and headed for the first jump, a parallel. Up and over. Perfect i though. Keeping Altitude collected Kelsey made a small turn over a brush jump. Straight ahead was the triangle. They jumped over the smallest end and cleared it with ease. After the triangle came a crossbar, which they cleared, they made a sharp half circle with only 2 short strides till the oxer. They made a bold leap and made it over. Four long strides later they jumped over the double vertical. Two strides after that they made another sharp turn and then they jumped over the wide part of the triangle. In and out of the triangle they jumped. Then there was one more turn and they jumped over a liverpool with a very high brush. They landed easily and Kelsey started to pull her up. When she had brought Altitude to a walk they headed back to me and Kelsey waited for me to say something. "GREAT JOB!" I exclaimed. "Thanks!" Kelsey replied. "There is something i want to ask you though." "What is it?" "Well i am heading up to Spruce Meadows in a little while for a grand prix and i was wondering if you wanted to come and ride in the low jumpers class?" "OF COURSE I WOULD!" She said excitedly. "Ok then it is settled, we will have to ask your mom first though. What horse do you want to ride at Spruce Meadows?" "Um could i maybe ride Tori?" "Ya sure but i would also like you to ride in the 5ft to 6ft jumpers course. So you have your choice of horses. I have Spit Phire, High Altitude, Esprit, Seize The Moment, Celtic Shot."
